1,000,000 kms * 12,000 kms /year basically means the car is under warranty during your full ownership...

which means casa palagi maintenance mo para di void yung warranty

Cherry qq parin ang naiisip ko pag nabanggit ang nameplate na yan.

Parang same sila ng kia. Tagal nawala sa isip ng tao ang kia pride. Pero unlike kia pride, mas reliable naman sya compared to qq na nakatambak na lang sa kalye.

Hindi ba para lang sa transmission yun (Since they used powertrain warranty) or does that cover engine and transmission only?

What is a Powertrain Warranty? | Autobytel

A vehicle’s powertrain – the “go parts” – consists of the engine, transmission, and drivetrain (the components that get the engine’s power to the wheels and down to the ground)

Well, for who will be the first to dive and buy, would be nice to know if there is any "fine print" for the powertrain warranty in terms of inclusions and exclusions. =)

Let's hope the early buyers learned their lesson and won't allow themselves to be guinea pigs (again) this time. Let the brand establish and prove itself first for a couple of years or decades before giving them your hard earned money. Fool me once --

Oo nga somebody told me once that Coca Cola bought 1,000 Cherrys for their company service. Many started failing in its first year and by the end of 3 years all of them were gone. Pero Coca Cola is a rich company. Kawawa iyong mga low wage buyers who bought a Cherry in installments of 5 years. By the 3rd year, hinde na tumatakbo and meron pa silang 2 more years to pay a car that no longer runs and can only be sold per kilo. Nakakalunkot di ba? :-(

was it the car that was marupok, was it the non-existent after-sales, or was it both?

    hahaha

reminded me of my conversation with my sister...

She plans to get an EcoSport...

sa loob loob ko... after all our headaches sa mga Cortina namin!

then I realized, Toyota/Mitsubishi cars na gamit namin when she was born.

there was a time, when local ford stores sold entire assemblies and not tinge-tinge parts like the japanese.
ford had already left our shores. ford owners were transplanting corolla carbs and playing with the jets ("sakal!"), to replace their leaking ones.. re-building their ball joints so's they may be re-used (ang tigas ng manibela!).. mounting non-ford lighting systems.. one time, i drove home my escort, with only alambre holding my rack and pinion together.. frankenstein ruled!

one day, i was visiting the Nth auto supply, looking for parts for my orphaned escort mexico.
the counter guy utters the all-too-common-and-expected reply, "wala po."
then he turns to the next guy, listens to what the guy wants, and answers, "ano gusto mo? original oem, replacement japan, o taiwan? pang-owner o pang-bayan seller? kanan o kaliwa? ilan gusto mo?"
then and there, i decided that my next car would be japanese.

    OT. memory lane.

Ah...Escort! FoMoCo parts were always sought when available. Taiwanese reps then were today's China. Rear red lamp lenses they made would fade to faint & blurry yellow. The family had a good love-hate(more love) w/ both MKs, 1 & 2.

    yespo.
when i chanced upon some item, i would buy two! except that... why do i have two left ball joints, when i wanted one left and one right..? heh heh. wala pang internet noon. hirap mag-barter trade with other ford owners, back then..
that is, if i had the money. ford parts by that time were going thru the roof. for example, the toyota ball joint cost only a hundring bucks, while the escort's would cost 200 kesos, if i could find one.
i should have gotten that beetle instead.. plentiful parts, back then.

    lucky you, sir.
what i was re-building at that time, was, i found out after i had purchased her, an ex-taxi!
much of what i know about auto mechanics today, i have to thank that beast for.
    heh heh.
