why not an upscale internet cafe with a coffee shop? or a coffee shop that offers wifi access? medyo mas mataas nga lang ang capital dun sa latter. but i think the returns are bigger.

sir, depende sa target market mo.

if you want a simpler of the two, you simply set-up a computer shop with games and internet- you're good to go. of course, your location would be a factor. if you're location is accessible and in high foot traffic area, chances are the shop would be profitable.

well, moving on to the internet cafe, if you are aiming for a more upscale market then set-up a lounge with a built-in coffee shop and a computer shop. say, internet and wi-fi zone. but this kind would best fit on a more upscale areas too. and ample of space is needed to provide a cozy ambience. also, parking area and accessibility are factors to be considered.

anyway, my vote goes to internet cafe. getting alive na ulit ang business na to due to the popularity of on-line gaming and the decreasing cost of internet connections.

but careful lang sa mga internet cafe na yan. microsoft is getting serious in cracking down illegal usage of their products. and they are coming up with this Internet Cafe Rental Rights program. apart from purchasing their products, you can not simply use them in your shop unless you avail of this program daw. ewan ko ba dito ke bill gates.

kung pure internet lang and you're worried about legal issues with MS, go Linux.

pero kung gaming cafe, you'd have to deal with the philippine network gaming alliance (or something like that) for all games you're going to install on your machines.

depende din nga sa location mo. a combo internet with coffee shop seems like a good idea kung medyo upscale ang target market mo. kung nasa lower segment, a good gaming cafe is a better idea. nasa market and location mo mag-depend kung alin mas papatok. look for a trend in your area.

AFAIK lahat ng Manila na Seattle's Best and Starbucks are wifi ready. just bring your laptop na wifi ready and buy wifi internet cards from them.
