I just received an email this morning supposedly coming from "citibank" and and on that mail their asking me to click a link to enter my my citibank card number and my pin numbers for verification purposes, allegedly daw a lot of card holders have a hard time checking their account....

yun subject nga pala ng email is "citibank card verification or something" but if you will look closely sa sender email, personal account and not from citibank.com

be warned that this email is a hoax!!!! if you ever receive such an email asking for your card and pin number, just delete it.....

sayang na delete ko kaagad yun email, attached ko sana dito

if you need more info, just call 995-9999 and talk to a Citibank Officer.

Also, yun email add extension (example: xxx*citicorp.com), madali yun dayain....standard practice: dont give away any details over the phone (unless you initiated the call).

may mga hints naman na hindi talaga galing sa Citi Corp. eh

    1. Wrong grammar used (this should at least warn you or give you a hint that this is not real.)
    2. Wrong spellings used (daming wrong spelling!)
    3. If you right-click the link and choose properties, it's not the correct URL for the company.

There's a good chance that its a scam... those last three digits on your card are some sort of security PIN that enable a legitimate merchant to conclude a transaction with your card company over the phone. If it falls into the wrong hands...

My rule of thumb: when someone calls me and claims to be from a credit card company, I don't believe them until they can prove otherwise. I don't disclose any personal data, since all of this data should already be in their database. Of course, its different if I was the one who called the card company; in this case, the burden of proving your identity rests on your shoulders. But for calls initiated by the alleged employee of the card company, my "scam detector" immediately shifts into high gear.

Besides, if the card company had a package for me, there's no need for them to verify anything with me --they can automatically send the package to my mailing address. Eh yun ngang mga credit cards mismo, automatic nilang pinapadala pag mag-e-expire na diba?

Usual SOP , never give any info on SSN , bank accounts , credit card account numbers or any information about self . The scam about identity theft and unauthorized financial abuse is not new . Its been around for a long time already and has victimized already a lot of people . Specially sa cyber world , this is not a joke kaya be careful .

Wag na wag mo ibibigay CVV# mo, this is the last 3 digits behind your card. No one wants to know it except for a carder.

Once i also had anonymous caller who called me up in the house and told me that i have won something..to claim it he said i should come to their company and bring my credit card.

i promptly disagreed and asked him if i can bring other ID's such as driver's license, SSS card, Company ID, etc. etc. he said that those ID's can be easily faked. (Is a credit card that hard to fake?)

a good chance? dude, where you been? IT IS, indeed, A SCAM. :hihihi:

sequoia, kahit may caller ID ka kung PRIVATE or UNLISTED ang number, hindi mo makikita kung cno ang tumatawag. Most, if not all, company numbers are UNLISTED and or listed as PRIVATE. Therefore, there is no way of tracking them via your Caller ID.
