Is it because of the roofing design?

    ay gree.
    terraces...
    nice in fair weather.
    nightmare in rainy weather.
... unless there's nothing under it that needs to be protected from water.

our moselyo used to have a concrete terrace-like top.
it always leaked, whatever "waterproofing" we put on it.
finally, in disgust, they agreed to the proposal... "lagyan natin ng tunay na bubong." as in, bubong ng bahay. we chose one with clay-like exteriors, para hindi naman galbanisado ang labas.
    boyla!

Those who've had exposed(unroofed) decks & firewalls know that waterproofing can only go so far, do so much. They will bite back...again & again & again. Concrete, by nature, is porous, hygroscopic, crack-prone & thermally reactive. It has limits. Elements, they've gotta be respected.

our firewall had always leaked, even from the start.
we tried everything, without long-lasting success.
finally, we covered it with flat GI sheets.
pangit tingnan, but it doesn't leak anymore, even after over 40 years.

It's not antidote you need, but tolerance, acceptance & understanding.
If you really must, prep to limit collateral damage. Route no electricals where water will eventually be expected. Be creative w/ lighting. Don't bother painting nor putting any ceiling unless it's gonna be some modular aluminum framed water-resistant panel, say plastic or metal. In summary, don't put anything under that you'd mind getting wet.[emoji4]
