Fake peso bill gang busted
THE National Bureau of Investigation collared two suspected members of a syndicate involved in counterfeiting peso bills in Valenzuela City.
Nabbed were Nomer Gonzales and Tony Espeleta, both of 1206 Barrio Bitik, Gen. T. de Leon, Valenzuela City.
Elements of the Anti-Fraud and Computer Crime Division and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas seized fake P200 and P100 bills.
Probers gathered that a fake P500 bill sold for P200 while a bogus P100 fetched a price of P30.
The alleged leader of the group identified as Eduardo Pedrajas was arrested in May 2004.
The suspects are facing charges for violation of Article 168 of the Revised Penal Code or illegal possession and use of false treasury of bank notes and other instruments of credit.
