Unlike sa industry, they can find ways to reduce their costs and still become profitable.

Example, yung factory ng Philip Morris.

one of the most common way for the industry to cut down on costs is to retrench. do you think this will better help the poor? di ba mas better kung lahat ng bilihin e mas mura but with a more expensive residential electricity, kesa sa pataas ng pataas na mga bilihin because of increasing cost of electricity and fuel, and kapag nahirapan na ang industry is to cut on production, thus resulting in retrenchments? e ano pang ipang babayad mo sa kuryente na mura nga pero wala ka naman trabaho?

i'm speaking of the general industry where everyone will be affected in one way or another. ang mahihirap ba papasok sa casino at sa rustans?

like i have said, mas madaling magtipid ng kuryente ang residential user kesa sa industry.

yrs from '86, we're experiencing the benefits na sana. oh well ...

BUY FILIPINO. This is really a basic thing to do... look at Korea & Malaysia. When am buying in the grocery, I usually check if it is imported or not.

    PATRONIZE SMALL SHOPS & RESTOS.

STOP COMPLAINING & CRITICIZE INSTEAD. Constant whining & complaining will get us nowhere. Positive criticism should be the mantra of every organization (and not just the government).

PRIORITIZE SPENDINGS. Look at where the income of most Filipinos go... to non-essential things right? Rather than get a life insurance or educational plan for their kids, they would rather get that fancy new mobile phone instead.

DON'T TOLERATE CORRUPTION. Don't reason out that it is the "system". For example, our company does not pay grease money to get our goods out of Customs faster. This might cause a few days delay in the shipment of goods but is well worth it. It can be done.

COMPASSION FOR THE NEEDY. There are lots and lots of NGOs out there that need your help. Instead of wasting all of those energy in those useless rallies they should just focus their attention there.

Well, I guess my suggestions complement mazdamazda's:

    1. HIRE FILIPINO - I think we have more than enough talented and skilled professionals, craftsmen or techies to go around.

    2. SUGGEST OPTIONS OR SOLUTIONS - We certainly get bombarded with problems and scandals in the news. The best thing to do is for us to suggest solutions or better options to problems that the country faces instead of taking to the streets to demonstrate. Simple solutions often work without wreaking havoc on the budget.

    3. CONSERVE - Water and electricity. No further explanations needed.

    4. CLEAN UP YOUR ACT - Manage your garbage and segregate. We have enough pollution and garbage problems. Try using recycled paper.

    5. SAVE UP - For a rainy day.

    6. GENERATE JOBS - Be entrepreneurial and create opportunities for others.

    Just my 2 cents...

    political stability
drastic reduction of graft and corruption
better tax collection(better tax collection = higher tax revenue = no need for other b.s. taxes = lower operating costs = lower prices = higher sales)
support for SMEs, particularly in export and agri sector

and most important of all...the will to make it all happen.
