I'm also using a phone as dashcam (AutoGuard Dash Cam) dahil nagtitipid nga.

But after an accident in which my dashcam video can prove my innocence in court, I'm going to get the best dashcam.

If my phone camera view was wider like of a dedicated dashcam, the impact could have been captured:

You didnt ask how long or how far is the commute, its exactly 2.9kms from house to daughters school then its less than 1km from school to my bussiness/office everyday. Yes its a boring drive. I miss the 1-2hrs drive from pque to makati, the congestion, rush hour, color coding, edsa and of course, MMDA

Lols... cheapskate it is, You said it yourself. Anyway since your iphone is doing a fine job as a dashcam then you can pass. Unless, youll be using your phone when it serves as a dashcam then its a wise idea to invest on something to seperate the two... ☺

I admit im a Cheapskate, my commute doesnt merit that much of an investment, but hear me out, im using carcorder app right now, its $1.99 in the app store, records in 1080, you still can use the music player in the background, has 8x slowmotion so its easy to see the plate number infront, it has a powersaving mode, btw, u can still use google maps for directions, auto dial in case on an emergency, there is the usual snapshot and speedlog etc. its a waste if we dont maximize what we have, its a 30k phone.

was able to get another sj4000 non-wifi. buti meron bagong stocks. this new one has a more recent firmware. since wala pa ako chance makauwi sa amin to install it to our other vehicle, i have it now as a rear dash cam.

seems the new firmware provides 1 second faster bootup and shutdown (or baka naman because of the length of the power cable, i have both wired sa rear cigarette plug).

i think mas sulit pa rin yung sj4000 non-wifi vs dedicated dashcam since dual purpose kapag may outing/lakad. pwedeng pang-action cam.

Looking to get another dashcam for my other car. SJ4000 non-wifi sana, but I don't need the action cam capability since I already have the SJ4000 wifi.

Any other dashcam in the 3k range that offers better image/video quality?
