for those who use it... who also use wrap around heavy tints... is there a performance hit when using heavy tints? (meaning is it better than using normal headlights with heavy tints... or not?)
I fitted a Philips Hylow 6000K kit with full tint on the windshield.
City driving, xenon gas discharged bulbs simply outperformed the halogens. From my own driving view, the light clearly lits the road. Just don't expect the bright to function same as halogens. Gas discharged bulbs needs more intensity for long range and it simply lits up the upper part of the horizon. But provides same distance as your dim.
If you notice most OE installed HIDs have extra housing for their halogen counterparts (used at the same time with bright function).
I have tested the HID bright function for long range, and you'll be lucky if the light reaches 300m before your eyes. While my aux light halogens exceeded 500m more.
I installed a pair of 100watt halogen aux lights for P1500.00... Lights up the road pretty well, too well sometimes because I'm blinding on-coming traffic.
rebel::: Where did you bought your kit? It's too expensive, I had my kit ordered via the internet and it shaved my wallet 35K plus 1K for the installation.
my car has xenon HID headlamps from the factory. coming from halogens in my previous car the difference is night and day (no pun intended) when it comes to short to mid-range lighting...HID is nothing short of awesome. the white light is also much easier on the eyes than the halogen yellow.
i don't use the brights too much because streets are pretty well-lit where i live, but when i do use the brights they seem just fine for long-range use (even traveling at 100 mph).
although i don't know if there are major differences between oem and aftermarket...i do know that my oem lights are in a projector-style housing and that might account for the difference. also, the bad effects of half-ass HID conversions are well-documented, from improper aiming (critical for HID), to uneven/splotchy beaming, and dangerous glare. some of these kits are worse/more dangerous than conventional halogen lighting.
...and let's not even get started on those fake HID colored bulb kits :bwahaha:
i've got a set of raybrig foglights on my civic and i just got a set of HID's for my headlights. hehe! i can't wait to try them out as this week palang kakabit.
this combination should give me the best of both worlds, near visibility with the foglights far visibility with the headlights
foglamps are a bit more expensive than headlights. figure around 45-55T for the set. headlights will range from 20-35T also depending kung high-low sya and also the brand
meron akong fcc and daiken na clutch sets.... just call the shop at the number below to inquire.
50K PhP for a HID?! Ang mahal naman, you can get it for $375.00.
Also, If you have a double filament OEM bulb/lamp, you will loose HIGH BEAMS when you do the HID Conversion. But I dont think you would be needing the highbeam because the lowbeam is just like the highbeam. Of course, vehicles equipped with HID and are using a separate bulb for each beam will retain the HIGH BEAM.
edit: also, HID Conversion works or owner can benefit more when they have a Projector headlamp.
