glass or plastic headlight lens

question lang po. bakit mga bagong auto/car plastic na headlight nila, not my corolla, glass yun headlight. ano advantage/disadvantage.

well, mas malinaw ang crystalline reflectors vs plain reflectors which uses the glass itself to disperse the light.

weight is a big advantage, so are the looks of plastic lights. But they're much more prone to fading and discoloration.

if the headlight assembly includes park and signal light inside, plastic headlight lens is normally use because it's lighter and inexpensive in terms of material but prone to scratches. glass lenses are more durable but more expensive to manufacture. buti na lang glass pa sa ride ko.

hindi kaya extra income sa mga supplier ito (i guess) and nagdis-color yun lens, umiitim, parang na-burn sa init ng light.

I prefer glass but plastic also has the advantage of being lighter and [on most models] able to withstand impact without shattering because they can 'flex'.

IMO , nice na para saking yung glass headlights.. in the other side maganda ang plastic kasi mas clear sya pero disadvantage if mag change ka ng higher wattage na bulbs and that can cause the plastic to melt because higher bulbs can create more heat. especially those customize plastic headlights made in taiwan.

Ako rin mas gusto ko ang glass headlights for me mas nagtatagal at hindi kaagad dumudumi sa loob at lumalabo..

eto isa pa, pag nagpa-carwash ka pinapasukan ng water yun headlight, rather than glass headlight, parang intact (sealed ) talaga.

wala na, you have to bear with it. Disadvantage talaga ng plastic yung discoloration umiitim pag nagtagal, pangit tuloy tingnan lalo na kung bagong linis kotse mo and super kintab pero ang itim naman ng headlamps,... di ba kaltas agad pogi points?

Hindi na ako inaabutan ng pag-itim ng headlights e. Mabilis life cycle ng tsikot saken. So no prob. And I read yung iba kaya nangingitim kase gumagamit ng higher wattage bulbs (100/80) which the headlight housing is not built for.

siguro, pero sa akin nangitim pa rin yung sa kotse ko kahit yung original wattage yung gamit ko, halos lahat talaga ng polycarbonate na headlamps naitim pag nagtagal. Maganda lang sa una makintab and kita loob.
