My car no longer has comprehensive insurance. A few months ago, my wife was driving it when another driver side-swiped my car's left side mirror which damaged it beyond repair. The driver of the one that hit my car insisted they just exchange details and not go to the police station anymore to avoid any additional hassle. She said that she will just let her insurance take care of the damage and that she is used to these kind of minor accidents as she works for Mitsubishi. She lives in the same community but just on a different condo property. She asked my wife to ask for a quote from the casa and send to her as we said that we want the casa to be the one to fix this.
After a few days of providing the necessary documents, the driver found out that her insurance no longer has Motor Image (Subaru cada) as an an authorized repair center and that they have their own authorized repair centers that I can go to. They gave me Atlanta Motors QC as one of those repair centers.
At first, I was a bit disappointed because the original agreement was for the casa to do the repair but I let it slide because she told us that this repair center is premium and all. So we said OK.
I then talked to whoever was in charge with the driver's insurance and the repair center. They told me that since my car is a 2018 model, the replacement part will just be a surplus and not a brand new one but is as "good as new". I said OK.
Questions:
1. Was I right to not push the driver at fault to make a way (maybe shell from her own pocket) just to have my car serviced at the casa?
2. Can I ask her for compensation of gas, commute fee when I bring in my car for repair and get it back after completion, etc.? I'm from Taguig and the repair center is in Congressional Ave. QC and the cost of Grab to and from will cost me money.
Thoughts? Thanks.
