Hi po. We pay almost 10k pesos every year for our comprehensive insurance of our 2007 mazda 3 ( every year parang almost 1k nababawas)

if gusto mo lang ma-register ang car mo, you can just get TPL (Third Party Liability) insurance. mas mura but you will lose insurance coverage for you and your car. now if gusto mo Full Coverage, get Comprehensive insurance, like what you have now.

How much is the TPL premium?
Car & Utility Vehicles Php 600.00
    Light Trucks ( Below 3, 390 kgs) Php 800.00
    Heavy Trucks (over 3, 930kgs) Php 1,200.00

    CTPL

compulsory po ito ng government to get an insurance for the purpose of protecting the third party.

    COMPREHENSIVE

consists of own damage/theft + VOLUNTARY TPL ( be it BI - Bodily Injury and PD - property damage). the name itself speaks - BI & PD. In lieu of the CTPL, kung kulang pa ang damage/claim, the comprehensive coverage will take care of the rest. comprehensive also covers acts of god (flood, lightning, earthquake) for additional cost aside from what i have mentioned above.

Pero kung gagamitin mo na ung insurance, need to pay the ballance in full.

OT: is your house insured? hindi gumagalaw ang house pero kinukunan din insurance, hindi basis ang safe na lugar.

insurance, the thing you need most when you think you dont need them.
if i were you, kung affordable naman, continue mo na lang. ask na lang for additional premium discounts the next renewal.
it comes handy lalo na kung accidents. what if let's say nabangga ka (hwag naman), and the cost to repair your car would be around 150-200k.... san ka bubunot nun? unless you have lots of cash at hand, ok lang.

Insurance is very important. i suggest that you still continue to have your car insured. you can request from your agent/ insurance company to quote for a lower premium high deductible/participation.

    Mga boss,

ibebenta ko na kasi yung kotse ko at may buyer na, kakilala ko lang din. Pano ba yung procedure sa paglipat ng car insurance policy sa new owner? Pwede ba ako magprocess thru email or phone call sa agent? Sana meron from Standard Insurance Co, ang makasagot.

    Thanks in advance sa magrereply.

My understanding is that the insurance coverage is for the vehicle and not for the owner.

when i bought one such used car...
i remember showing the insurance guy a document.. i don't remember if it was the deed of sale or the CR, or both..?!

we have to "update" the insurance, because, in the unlikely event, they will want to know whose name to put on the cheque.

btw... i was informed somewhere in these threads, some time ago, that the seller has the option to terminate the compre. when he sells the car, and to pocket the refund. buyer must check if the used car he is buying, is still insured.

    Time to renew din here.
Will renew with FNAC (First Nationwide Assurance Corporation - First Nationwide Assurance Coporation)
Even though the rates are slightly higher, may onting perks:

    a. 24 x 7 roadside assistance
    b. Loss of Use benefit.
