On Fifth Gear Season 12 Episode 5, they tested four of the leading fuel additives that claim to increase engine power. They had it tested in a facility with a engine coupled to a dyno to directly measure horsepower output for each additive.

The end result is a net 2% loss of engine power for all four products.

some two years ago, i used an octane booster and fuel line cleaner for my car,
hindi na ma-uulit kasi parang nasayang nga lang pera ko dun. ngayon, napatunayan palang masama sa engine natin ito. thanks gh for the info.

this not surprising at all. fuel enhancers or octane boosters are there to.. uhm.. increase octane rating. the octane rating is just a measure of how much a fuel mix can be compressed before it spontaneously ignites.

on a standard, unmodified engine rated for 93 octane, there's nothing you can gain from using 95 octane premium unleaded, much less 104 octane gas.

it may help in some instances, say if your engine is in bad shape and pinging or knocking, but overall, its just a waste of money imho.

Ever since before I never believed in any of these products .

In a related product, do you guys remember that name of that certain oil additive that they were selling on Home Shopping TV that promises excellent performance on any car engine. They even drained all the stock oil out after treating it with their product, then started the engine with practically no oil inside to prove that their oil engine additive coats all the metal surfaces like glue .

That's one heck of a marketing gimmick but still all bull .

I think yung sinasabi mo were using teflon to coat and protect the engine. AFAIK, engine treatments and fuel additives are technically different (parang oil vs gas). Alam ko yung teflon treatments naman na yun, nagwo-work talaga ... until the teflon wears off and gets stuck in your engine/oil filter.

The only fuel additive I use is Diesel Kleen for my diesel. It prevents gelling for the coming cold weather, increases cetane and possibly MPG. Lubricity is also increased due to the change to ULSD (ultra low sulfur diesel).

Fuel stations already have their own additives. That's why you get V-power, Blaze, etc. compared to regular.

The only other recommended product I would say is good would be Lubro Moly or Liqui Moly products. If I had all the money in the world I'd probably use their oil for my car but it's so damn expensive that's why I just stick to regular dino oils.

Never tried fuel additives for gasoline cars...probably never needed it anyway.

never tried it.. mahirap ng mag-experiment sa engine ng tsikot.. malaking gastos kapag nasira o kaya nagloko..

Don't know about you guys, but when my Sentra had idling problems before, I bought a bottle of Outlaw fuel additive as a last resort, kasi I was isolating the cause of the problem. Eventually, it was traced to a dirty TB, but that Outlaw stuff worked great. Hindi ako namamatayan ng makina nun unlike before, pero may konting nginig na pa rin.

In testing, Outlaw actually adds about 2 RON to some gasolines.

A fuel additive won't give you more power unless you tune for it, and unless you have a turbo, you can't tune for much. It's only useful if you really can't get good octane gas, or have gotten a batch of "bad gas", or if your car can't run at all on regular gasoline.

I'm thinking of trying Martini Super Boost, though... lab testing claims to show +5 RON from 92 Octane, and +3 RON for 95-96. Have only found documented dyno results for turbo cars, though... some have tried tuning non-turbo cars for it, but have not found substantial gains.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Can you PM me what TB means? Toothbrush? Tuberculosis? hehe. Kidding. Just really curious.

Mayroong mga fuel additives that works, like the additives that cleans the injectors and help reduce carbon build up in the combustune chamber and valves. This additive also reduces the chances of detonation..

With octane boosters, some claims are exagerated... there is no way you will gain power by just adding the booster.Ignition timing has to be adjusted to take advantage of the higher octane,
but what happens if you run out...well you have to set the timing back to standard..

Speaking of fuel additives, what about Oil Additives? like duralube, etc. are they any good?

Just buy a good oil... but then, not all oils are created equal, either.

you got to get your car in good condition rather than getting any additives
