What's the Most Fuel Efficient Mid-Car?

Hi,

I have a CRV 2004 A/T running at 6km/l. I noticed that if I change
to other SUVs or AUVs, I won't get better than 10km/l so I plan
to downgrade to a car. What is the most fuel efficient car in
the mid-end such as Altis or Civic? I don't like the tiny cars such
as Vios or City. Downgrading a CRV to a City would make it too small.

But I'm concerned about something. In collision, is an SUV such
as CRV more resistant than say an Altis or Civic? Of course
the tiny cars such as Jazz, Yaris, vios would be thrown away
but how about the bigger Altis or Civic? Is there any data between
collision performance between say a Rav4 SUV against an Civic
and between a Rav4 SUV against another Rav4 SUV? One of
my decision whether to downgrade from an SUV to cars would
be on this collision performance.

i think meron pa din big size utility vehicles that can perform better than 10km/l FC, yun nga lang diesel. alteera and MPV innova diesel has 10 km/l city-run figures sa mga threads here in tsikot, search mo na lang...

about collision impact medjo malaki nga ang difference lalo na sa kaha since ang sedan eh habol nyan eh gaan, pero halos lahat na naman ng modern cars eh me impact crumple zones kung tawagin, yung bibigay para ma absorb yung force instead na sa passenger mapupunta, at less yung chance na maibabato ng malayo yung oto, less fatal kumbaga,

Well... in traffic, modern CRDis have a hard time breaking past 8 km/l. The best I've seen (so far), is the Focus, which logs 9 in the worst traffic and 13 in regular rush-hour. The only things more fuel efficient are the subcompacts. In fact, the Focus is the only non-mini CRDi/D4D/DiD/TDCi/etcetera I've driven that is more fuel efficient than my manual transmission Crosswind.

Most big CRDis (SUVs and CUVs alike) usually get around 7-8 km/l in pure rush-hour driving. Divisoria level can bring it astronomically low. A few SUVs and AUVs we've driven could get as low as 5-7 km/l in regular city traffic.

If you really want to save money on fuel, go small. You may also want to follow ghosthunter's sage advice and go LPG... a Honda City or Toyota Vios running on LPG will be just as fuel efficient as the best diesels available, and will use a fuel that costs only half as much as diesel.

In terms of size and safety, modern superminis from Toyota and Honda have excellent crash protection. Many people think their small sizes make them unsafe, but it's simply not true. What matters in crash protection is how well the unibody spreads the impact throughout the structure. These cars may in fact be much safer than your two generations older CR-V. And they're suprisingly roomy. If you only need seating for four, it's very comfortable. Kung five people ka lang magkakaproblema.

bro ang tagal na nung CRV mo, iba na yung developments sa technology and safety ng cars the past 4 years. baka nga mas safe pa yung ibang bagong labas na compact and sub compact cars.
