hi guys!.. I loaded up at UNIOIL station along quirino and i found a banner, they now have Premium Diesel, Euro Quality daw! they boast of lesser smoke emission, cleaner engine and 10% gain in mileage!!! wow!

the pump for this premium diesel is separated from their normal pumps, i have'nt tred it yet coz it was too late before i notced the banner...

the price is 1 peso higher than regular diesel....not bad i think! compared to the benefits they claim...

now, has anyone tried this yet??? is'nt this what we long for... Clean diesel!

hehhe wag natin bilhin, parang gusto ata nila taasan yung prices ng diesel para hindi sila under recovery. in short baka pakulo nila yan, para taasan ang prices ng diesel nila hehhee

hmmm... research ko ito... kapag euro quality dapat 200ppm na ang sulfur content (against ours with is 0.05%).

after a few minutes of googling...

Scientists from Oxonica are involved in the development and commercialization of nanotechnology products like the new diesel fuel, Envirox, according to Hazarika.

Patteri Makitalo said that, while premium diesel costs slightly higher at pump stations, reduction in fuel consumption will bring big net savings to motorists. "If every diesel user in Metro Manila shifts to the new fuel, this would bring a visible dramatic change in air quality in six months," he said.

The independent Philippine Petroleum Corporations Association, through its chair, Fernando Martinez, who is also CEO of Eastern Petroleum, expressed support for the new fuel. Unioil, Seaoil, Flying V and Eastern service stations are gradually introducing the product to their motorist clients.
    so what is Envirox?

Efficiency Trials For Oxonica Nano Fuel Additive, Envirox

Although fuel additives are as old as the combustion engine itself and rarely do they amount to anything more than a lightening of the bank balance, a British company is claiming to have developed an additive that makes diesel burn more efficiently.

The claim by Oxonica, a spin-off company from the University of Oxford, is that their additive, called Envirox, can produce fuel savings of 10%. The additive uses miniscule particles of cerium oxide to catalyse the combustion reactions between diesel and air.

    Cerium Oxide

For some time cerium oxide has been viewed as a potential fuel additive but it has never reached commercial success. It is known to act like a type of storage unit for oxygen releasing oxygen to oxidise carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon gases. It also absorbs oxygen to reduce the amount of harmful nitrogen oxides released. The net result is a cleaner burn with more fuel converted to carbon dioxide, less carbon deposits on the internal workings of the engine and a less noxious exhaust.

    Increasing Surface Area

The approach being taken by Oxonica differs from their predecessors in that they are using particles only 10 nanometres across. This creates a greater surface area for catalysing the reactions. It also means that Envirox can be used at concentrations as low as five parts per million in the diesel. This is one-tenth the concentration of previous additives. These small particles also remain more evenly suspended in the fuel.

    Bus Trials

Envirox has been successfully trialled in buses in Hong Kong. This trial covered 12 million kilometres and now the largest bus operator in the UK is doing its own tests. Stagecoach from Scotland are testing Envirox in 1000 of their 7000 diesel-fuelled vehicles.

    Dodecylsuccinic Anhydride Doping

While the trials are being carried out, Oxonica are further developing the additive. They have filed a patent that claims coating the nanoparticles in an organic solvent called dodecylsuccinic anhydride helps dispersion within the fuel and that doping with copper can make the fuel burn better.
hmmm... it works like acetone (on gasoline) by increasing the surface area of diesel fuel. nano technology? wow... this is cutting edge!

Euro quality would then be Euro 5 emission compliant.....nasa Euro 1 standard na ba tayo?

    oo nga eh kaya nakapagtataka

wala namang mawawala kung susubukan natin para malaman natin if their claims are true. Lahat na ba ng Unioil may ganito na???

Does it meet EURO1, EURO2, EURO3 or EURO4? Kung EURO1 then it's the standard RP diesel mandated by the Clean Air Act. Nice to see more choices from the independents.

measuring ng sulfur content ang tinitingnan for diesel fuel... afaik eto yun:

    euro 1 - 0.1%
euro 2 - 0.05% (eto ang implemented sa atin ngayon)
    euro 3 - 200ppm (parts per million)
    euro 4 - 50ppm

as I explained... nilagyan nila ng additive lang (cerium oxide aka Envirox) yung diesel fuel nila... which may proven na 10% savings on fuel.

pero hindi naman nila sinabi jan na lower sulfur content... lahat ng diesel fuel natin dito sa pinas ay Euro II (dapat).
