kung magkaiba ang engine oil mo (eg. Havoline Energy) at gas mo (eg. Shell Velocity)?

    regards,

you are using an energy conserving engine oil kaya it will give you better fuel economy than using an engine oil without that given rating....

given the same engine oil, experiment on using different fuels with different Research Octane Number(RON)...stick with the one that gives you better fuel economy...

based on experience, fuels with 95 RON gave me better mileage that fuels with 93 RON...my car then was a Toyota Corolla with 1300cc carburated 2E engine...haven't tried 93 RON on my current ride...

salamat mga bossing...baka lang kako may kinalaman yun sa biglang pag-taas ng gas consumption ng ride ko e.

    salamat ulit!

Use the manufacturer's recommended GAS for your ride kung gusto mo talgang mag save ng gas.

WHAT IF I PREFER TO USE GASOLINE WITH HIGHER OCTANE RATINGS?

You can, but there are no real benefits, other than the gasoline manufacturers making more money off of you. When you use a fuel with a higher octane rating than your vehicle requires, you can send this unburned fuel into the emissions system. It can also collect in the catalytic converter. When you over stress any system, it can malfunction or not do what it was designed to do properly. In the early 90's, an early warning symptom was a rotten egg smell from the tailpipe. Easy fix, go back to using regular 87 octane gasoline. The rude odor usually disappears after several tanks of gasoline.

DOESN'T HIGHER OCTANE GASOLINE HAVE MORE CLEANING ADDITIVES THAT ARE GOOD FOR MY ENGINE?

No. Government regulations require that all gasoline contain basically the same amount of additives to clean the injectors and valves. The only differences are the type to help create the different octane ratings. All gasoline burns at the same rate, it is the additives that create the different octane ratings for the different types of engines.

using a lower viscocity engie oil will increase fuel milage at a cost of less friction protection to the engine.

you mean biglang tumaas ang gas consumption mo when you switched to Havoline Energy? ;)

Q:Havoline Energy is an SAE 5W-30 grade motor oil. Will using a motor oil of this viscosity damage my engine?

A:Vehicle manufactures recommend lubricants by both their viscosity and performance classifications, not just by viscosity alone. They are primarily concerned with the performance of an oil and its ability to prevent wear, to keep the engine clean and free of deposits, and to resist thickening in service. Havoline Energy is formulated in a viscosity grade which provides fuel consumption savings, but it also meets and exceeds the highest published manufacturer and industry performance specifications, including the benchmark API SL category.

Engine manufacturers are also concerned with valve train wear, that is wear on the camshaft lobes and other components of the valve train. Havoline Energy was tested in a standard European engine test which determines the motor oil’s ability to prevent camshaft lobe scuffing wear. In this severe engine test, Havoline Energy had three times less camshaft lobe wear than a leading synthetic motor oil, and nearly eight times less wear than the passing limit allowed by the European standard.

Like all Caltex Havoline products, Havoline Energy is formulated to provide complete protection against starting friction, heat stress and engine deposits. It provides superior protection against engine wear on start-up where the majority of engine wear occurs. On start-up, Havoline Energy will circulate faster than heavier motor oils, providing full protection against wear for vital engine components. Yet at high temperature operation, it maintains a fully protective film of fluid and anti-wear additive between moving engine components.

No one can really tell if your gas consumption has changed due to different manufacturer of OIL and GAS. (i.e. Shell Gas and Havoline Oil)

If there is, the owner's manual should have specified that same brand of OIL and GAS should be used or else, your GAS consumption will be affected.

In the states (well, most Import tuners I know of) uses Chevron Gas or 76 Gas while using Mobil1. No known negative effect at all. As a matter of fact, this is the first time I'm hearing this kind of inquiry regarding Gas and Oil brand names. I mean, most inquiries that I do encounter on the web is about oil viscosity.

regarding chieffy's comment on viscosity, I agree. Manufacturer suggests to use 5w 30 but when summer hits, some owners uses 10w. Well, if you have to use 10w, it's gotta be on a summer season and 5w on winter season.

I use 5w30 during winter and 10w30 during summer :D Also, I've never heard of oil affecting gas consumption.

    yes (in my case)

for my Rav4, when i switched to Havoline Energy, my mileage improved by around 1km/L. mileage is around 9km/L for a 2.0L engine for a mixed city / hiway drive.

low oil viscosity means higher fuel mileage but less engine protecton from friction.

guys, read the engine oil's label...if you see an API donut symbol that says: "ENERGY CONSERVING" - it is the fuel economy rating. The "Energy Conserving" rating applies to oils intended for gasoline-engine cars, vans, and light truck. Widespread use of "Energy Conserving" oils may result in an overall savings of fuel in the vehicle fleet as a whole.
