check your manufacturer's manual for proper viscocity. 20W-50 is the most common and cheapest viscocity available to be used for tropical countries like ours..

I'm far from an expert, but we've had bad experiences with 20W-50's in our Corolla Altis 1.6. My sister has tried both the Helix 20W-50 and the Helix Ultra (fully synthetic) 15W-50. The Altis performed sluggishly and seemed to vibrate a little bit more compared to the "lighter" weight oils in the 10W-40 or below category. I dunno, but it seems that "50" was too "heavy" for the car.

When my sister shifted to Shell Helix Plus 10W-40 the extra vibration and sluggish performance disappeared. She eventually tried Caltex Havoline Energy 5W-30 and not only did it give her smoother performance, it also increased her fuel efficiency a bit. Perhaps the lighter weights of both the Helix and Havoline were less "strenuous" to the engine?

to be sure, use the 10w/40 (semi synthetic in blue container) but I do not really see any problem with the 20w 50 specially if you change your oil regularly.

same here... one year na rin akong gumagamit nito from shell semi-synthetic. wala namang pagbabago ang takbo ng makina.

check shell's website.. pag bago usually fully or semi synthetic.. pag mga 10 yrs++ recommended ang mineral. depends on driving style too..

20W-50 is ok basta changeoil kalang regularly. Every 5k mileage.

For such a small car and such an efficient engine, I don't think it's advisable.

Check your owner's manual... most likely the Type Z can only take up to 15w40. 10w30 is a safe bet.
