"Pump" - A good documentary how the oil industry is monopolizing automotive fuels

I watched this last night on Netflix, but found out just a while ago that it's also available on Youtube: Pump (2015) - USA ( Documentary ) - YouTube

It's a documentary about how the oil cartels are monopolizing crude oil as fuel. And through propaganda and legislations, kept Ethanol and Methanol mostly out of the pumping stations. It dates back to before the turn of the century with the industrialist, Rockefeller.

It also documents how Brazil went against the monopoly and won.

So if you have nothing better to do, watch it.... It's an eye-opener.

Sounds like what the soybean oil cartel in the U.S. did to the coconut oil industry in the Philippines in the 80s and 90s. Soybean is the primary source of cooking oil in the U.S. And U.S. prefer soybean because it can be grown in an industrial scale just like corn. They promoted the idea that coconut oil is bad for the health. Thus, demand for coconut oil plunged and therefore prices also plunged. That's what caused the closure of the Ludo and Luym plant in Cebu, then the biggest in Asia.

The problem was exacerbated when the government intensified its anti-deforestation campaign and so people shifted to coco lumber. That almost killed coconut farming.here. While it's making a resurgence, it could be too late now that our neighboring countries are deep into palm oil production.
