(UPDATE) SHELL Philippines and Petron Corp. gasoline prices will be rolled back by P0.30 a liter effective Friday, spokespersons for the two oil firms said.

Shell spokesman Roberto Kanapi said in radio and television interviews that the rollback was in addition to discounts already being extended to public transportation firms.

Petron’s Virginia Ruivivar said they would match Shell’s price roll back on gasoline prices.

Jorge Marco, spokesperson of Caltex, said the company would likely follow suit.

Raul Concepcion, chairman of the Consumer and Oil Price Watch, said Thursday that the price roll back should have been at least 50 centavos for both gasoline and diesel products.

Kanapi cited lowered prices for Dubai crude as the reason for the roll back.

World crude oil prices plummeted Wednesday on news of a surprise gain in US commercial petroleum inventories in the early days of the northern hemisphere winter, Agence France-Presse reported.

Gas dealers are fast at increasing prices, but totally terrible at lowering prices. The government should do something about this. Do you guys ever wonder why this happens? It's so sad. Even the consumer and price watch can't do anything.

they are rolling back prices kasi crude sila mag import, kaya they can afford to do that. plus, i think they already hit their targets for the year. kaya papapogi nalang sila sa roll back
