question lang. what if you have been using velocity or other high octane fuels tapos bigla kang mag-shift sa lower octane fuels (as in pure unleaded lang)... what will be the effect on this sa engine mo? certainly it will produce engine rattles, pero what will be the effect internally?

    curious lang.. :?:

nabasa ko dati sa mga flyers ng velocity mga 2 years ago, ok lang daw kahit paghaluhaluin ang different fuels (unleaded, leaded, high octane).

Hindi pwede paghaluin ang leaded and unleaded. If your engine runs on unleaded even with high or low octane ok lang kasi hindi masisira ang catalytic conveter ng sasakyan. You will just be wasting money by buying high octane and mixing it with low octane unleaded gas.

pero kung walang catalytic converter, ok lang paghaluin ang leaded and unleaded.

True, but why would you settle for an unleaded if you can run with leaded? Most vehicles nowadays are equiped with catalytic converters, and old schoolers run better with leaded gas. Pumapalya ang makina ng old engines when filled with unleaded even with high octane ratings.

Wala pong effect if you previously use a higher octane fuel (e.g 95 RON) then shift to lower octane (93 RON). Since most gas engines require a minimum of 87 RON to prevent engine knock the current lowest octane gas available in the market (93 RON) is still way above this minimum limit. Wala din pong effect kahit paghaluhaluin ang mga different (unless catalytic converter equipped - only unleaded) gasoline brands both high and low octane huwag lang po sa diesel or kerosene. Also most of the gasoline sold in the Phils are already unleaded due to the Clean Air Act. With the rising fuel prices you'll save more with the lower octane fuel in the long run. But performance wise if you could afford the higher octane then go for it. Sabi nga ng Shell 20 pesos lang ang difference sa price ng full tank ng Shell Velocity at Full tank ng Super Unleaded.

If your car has a catalytic converter and shifted to leaded from unleaded ay sira nga agad ang catalytic converter.

Because new environmental regulations say you have to, and will force you to.

    sup,

I think it's still the old one. I got it from the local Shell website. I guess di pa nila inupdate. Anyway the new Shell Velocity as described by Shell is still the same 95 octane gasoline but improved. They say it provides better accelearation and response compared to the previous Velocity.

    M,

Just like what sir boybi has said meron pa po pero sa mga maliit na gas stations and mostly outside of GMA. I have seen one sa Caltex station sa may Tarlac, Tarlac.

Kahit ba reformulated ang Velocity, di ko pa rin
bibilihin yan dahil its simply too expensive.
For everyday driving in this God forsaken traffic
clogged roads of ours, a 93RON fuel does just fine.
If its an old car, maybe a 95RON would suffice.

all engines since the 80's or 90's and beyond were designed to run with unleaded fuel...

check your car's specs... some of it may require a high octane rating...

my rav4 requires 95... while my 323 requires only 87...

new shell velocity??
