    Interesting to note:

    The US government limits the minimum mark-up each gas station gives. Someone here was complaining that big chains mandate a minimum mark-up for franchisers. The idea here is the same... if you price yourself too low in the US, you'll kill off the small gas companies, leading to a price-fixing monopoly. If you price too low in the Philippines, you'll kill off the other franchisers around you, which is bad for business.

    2007 profit levels... 155,000,000,000 dollars out of 1,900,000,000,000 dollars is around an 8% profit. Pathetic when you think about it... considering a 10% profit is considered the minimum when you're establishing a business.
