Has anyone tried the vortex or similar device for their diesels?

Hi everyone. Saw this tv ad on a cylindrical device installed in your intake hose that spins the air going into your engine. I also saw a similar version in motorshows. Are the advertised benefits of more power and better fuel consumption true - especially for diesels?

but if you can't find that thread, i'll just give you the short story. buy a can of coke (pour the contents into a glass with ice), cut the can into the shape of that gizmo they call the "vortex" (or whatever they call it now), stick that in your air intake and see if it makes any change in your mileage or engine power. guaranteed, it won't. at least, with the coke you get a cool drink after your diy experiment, and it costs only P20. with the "vortex" you would have been robbed of a few thousand pesos (cause it does not work), and no cool drink either.

bumaba ang rpm dahil sa airflow restrictions. meaning more FC... lesser airflow restrictions "might" decrease FC..

Your engine is working harder to pump more air into itself, leading to a decrease of horsepower.

Popular Mechanics tested the vortex type fuel saver and noted a sizeable loss of power and fuel economy on the dyno.
