Fuel injection systems require little maintenance and keep their state of tune better than carb engines.

The computer box is a non-moving part, it is not really subject to wear and tear. Repairing the box has been done on Monteros but replacing them with surplus units is more practical in the local setting.

Very few vehicles nowadays are non-electronic. I'd worry about other aspects of the vehicle first. ECU failures are rare.

another plus about EFI equipped engines is that they can use ethanol blended fuels, something that carb engines cant...

    saves you fuel.

You don't really need fuel injector cleaners. If you think your injectors are getting dirty, you just load a full tank or two of the highest octane you can buy.

Ever notice that fuel injector cleaners, carb cleaners and octane boosters are all sold in similar bottles by the same companies? It's because it's gasoline that helps clean your injectors, and the higher the octane, the cleaner they get.

ECU failure is very rare, unless your car has been flooded or you've swapped engines and have a rat's nest of soldered together custom wiring under the hood. And even then, secondhand ECUs cost something like 5-15k only for most engines. A lot of early fuel injected cars are pushing on twenty years and they're still running on the same boxes.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

ok, so it means wala pala dapat ikatakot sa ECU and injector ng mga car models with an (i), kasi me nakita me medyo mura and pasok sa budget ko n naka injector n sya, kaso parang ang myth is hirap daw i maintain ng ecu nun engine lalo n pag out of tune up, di daw kaya ng kung sino lang mechaniko pero sabi mo nmn to clean it dapat 1 or 2 full tank lang ng high octane n gaso.... thanks for the input n din po....

Regular maintenance lang din naman po sa EFI engines, but at least unlike carbs, you always need to have your jettings checked and also the contact points (if applicable).

bottled injector cleaners or even a tank of fuel can't clean your injectors when the filters are already clogged....

check out this fuel injector cleaning thread in grupotoyota (you need to register though)...
    http://www.grupotoyota.com.ph/board/...ic.php?t=41924

BTW, matagal (ilang years) ang interval ng fuel injector cleaning....

Regarding the ECU, basta walang gagalaw ng wirings (na usually pinagmumulan ng sira pag may maling connections), di sya masisisra... or wag lang mababaha...

Take it from me... I know firsthand what happens when your ECU gets dunked in floodwater...

There's ultrasonic injector cleaning (I've heard, ha, not sure) here, but at the price, I don't know if it's worth it. At least it takes a very very long time for injectors to go dirty, nga, unlike the jets in a carb that require a good cleaning every oil change or every other oil change, depending on your gas and use.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
