how significant is one's driving style sa fuel economy? napansin ko kasi on my way to work, halos hindi gumagalaw ung needle, pero sa pag uwi e medyo dramatic ung pagbawas ng fuel. hindi naman masyadong aggressive ang driving ko(no swerving, no jackrabbit starts, no high revving, etc., max speed at 80kph), and almost the same naman ang driving style ko papunta at pauwi(ok, medyo hinahataw ng konti sa pag uwi B)

pwede bang magkaroon ng diperensya ung carb such that it eats more fuel at slightly higher revs?

in my observation, pag mabirit ako and with a lot of swerving ako mag-drive mas dramatic ang pagbaba ng needle.

same here. pag very aggressive driving, mga 3-4.5 km/liter lang ako eh. pag laid back, 6-7 ang consumption.

Significant, depending on how agressive you are. The difference could be as little as .5km/li to a whopping 2-3km/li. You have to remember that the gauges aren't accurate, its more of an estimate rather than an exact amount.

Gauges are not accurate, most cars fuel needle will jumble up and down and give you an approximate reading only.

Yup... gauges are normally marked "FULL", "1/2","RED Mark"... yung 1/2 mark is more or less correct, but do not assume yung 1/4 and 3/4 of the graduations in the meter level means 1/4 or 3/4 of the tank capacity.

As for my experience about fuel consumption.... when your tire's pressure lower than specified, you tend to burn more fuel kase it is a lot more difficult to run a vehicle kung deflated or flat tire.

... also when your vehicle is not on flat ground (like on steep grade, etc...), fuel meter reading changes...

I think the best way to monitor your car's fuel consumption is to monitor your mileage (Kms) and amount of fuel when re-fueling for a full tank. This way, after getting a full tank, you can reset your trip meter and when going to re-fuel for the next full tank, you could easily calculate your gas consumption in actual Km/liter... do this several times and you will have an almost accurate level of your vehicles fuel consumption (and possibly your driving technique)

I've done that. I've calculated a drop of 2-3 km/l for times when I drive very hard, and 0.5 to 1 km/l for when I'm driving briskly. 6km/l seems to be my basement... only get that in 0.1 km/h traffic (halos nakapark sa daan) or on track. Deym I love EFI.

You can be fast and economical at the same time. It's a matter of getting the transmission to top gear as fast as possible, but make sure the engine doesn't struggle as you shift.

    ...define fast....

I just had the worst economy of my year, today. Had to go back to Biņan from Queon City to look for some papers, then I had to motor to Alabang for a meeting, then I had to drive to Los Baņos to get the keys for the office where the papers were... then back to Biņan (which is halfway between Alabang and Los Baņos) to actually get the papers, then back to Quezon City. All hard driving. Set a worst economy record for the year... a projected 6.5 km/l off of about 17 liters.

Don't want to follow up batang_raon's Chevy North Edsa suggestion? Sounds like a sure cure.

I'm pretty sure a lot of 323 owners would've loved it if we had a real Mazda casa back in the 90's, as an ECU adjustment is apparently all that's needed to give the standard 323 more power and better fuel economy.
