im planning on buying my first car, I already made up my mind that im going to get a honda civic... my budget is around 200k - 250k. Im torn in getting a 97 or a 99 civic.
just want to know the difference between the VTec engines. difference on horse power, fuel consumption, etc...

No idea, pero for your budget, get the 99-00 SIR body Civic. LXI is generally regarded as more frugal than the Vtec.

November 11th, 2009 10:17 AM #4No such thing as VTEC 1, 2 and 3.
Perhaps you're talking about VTEC implementations:
VTEC-E
VTEC
VTEC (3-stage)
i-VTEC

November 11th, 2009 10:21 AM #5Difference in horsepower:
VTEC-E is the least powerful
VTEC is generally more powerful
VTEC 3-stage is just a fusion of the two
Difference in fuel consumption:
VTEC-E is the most frugal
VTEC is relatively frugal given it can produce higher power
Not really that familiar with the i-VTEC pa, pero given its the freshest of the lot, it should be more powerful and efficient than the others....
