Which one is better and why?

Are we talking here of the gas or diesel variants? We should lay down the terms of the comparison before any reasonable suggestion is made.
Performance
Price
Cost of Ownership
Interior Space
etc.
I suggest:
2017 CX-5 FWD PRO 2.0L VS. 2017 CRV 2.0S.
2017 CX-5 2.2L AWD Diesel VS 2017 CRX SX AWD Diesel
Many thanks.
I'd go with the CX-5 too. Unless I'm looking at the diesel variant.
With the Yojin 3 of the CX5 Pro and the more modern styling, that 100K premium against the Forester doesn't seem too bad... specially if one doesn't need the 4WD (as it might also cost more to maintain).
cx5 2.0 8.4L/100km
crv 2.0 11.1L/100km
you can compute the fuel cost monthly or annually based on estimated distance...

Everytime I see the new CX-5, I am underwhelmed. Still liked the previous gen compared to this new one. So if we are choosing between the entry level Gas variants, I'd choose the CRV.
I had choose the CR-V over the CX-5 anytime.
Legroom and headroom is a big consideration for me when purchasing a car. A vehicle with poor headroom, legroom, and hiproom is a turn off for me.
no sense comparing these two anymore, CRV has leveled up with a diesel engine. The gas engine of the new CRV is like the like gas engine of the Current Fortuner. It's there in the market but no one is really interested. it's just meant to remind the market that the gas engine is as entry-level as their entry level diesel models.
goodbye all CUV gas engine. with the new diesel CRV, the only CUVs worth comparing are the Tucson and Sportage, unless Mazda release their diesel CX5, hindi yun presyong ayaw magbenta tulad nun CX5 trim nila na diesel na singpresyo na ng Ford Explorer lol
5 more inches of hip room on the second row for the CX5 pero nung tinignan ko sa showroom parehas parang hindi ko nafeel yung difference.
I hate how the new CX5 rear looks very girly/soft. Sa likod pinakamaganda pa rin RAV4 tsaka lumang CX5.
