I'm about to buy a 2nd hand car......

And I've narrowed down my choices to 2 models

A Honda Civic ESI or a Toyota Corolla GLI

In terms of PERFORMANCE, FUEL EFFICIENCY, PARTS AVAILABILITY and MAINTENANCE COSTS ETC.

Which one is the better car?

I need your opinions on this matter guys

Any opinion from you guys will be greatly appreciated and considered as an expert's advice

Both are great vehicles and I own one of them -, the Corolla.

In terms of aftermarket parts, the Civic has an advantage of this. Why ? It's easy to dress up and aesthetic mods are everywhere ... BUT, the corolla has also lots of aftermarket parts out there, only less than the Civic ... well for me, I haven't experience any hardships in looking for aesthetic mods for my 101 ( except for the friggin' euro parts. )

Anyways regards on the performance both are almost equal, well stock vs. stock. ;) If modded, well it depends on the modifications done on the engine. :hihihi:

Parts availability wont be a problem for both. They're everywhere.

Maintenance Costs. I spend like 2-3k every 6 months for my Corolla. Dunno with the Civic tho'.

To wrap it up it's like this.

Either of the 2 you buy, there won't be any regrets in your part since both are known to be strong vehicles.

    goodluck.

Up +100. renzo_d10's got the corolla. I used to own a Civic ESi.

What he said above was true.

You are now choosing between arguably the greatest ever Japanese compact sedan rivalry.

Either one of them is a great choice.

It's like choosing between a Mustang and a Camaro. Then forget about the other ponies.

I think we're talking here of a budget between 140K to 170K pesos.
Go for the car that you think was maintaned very well by the seller.

Well, depends kung pano inalagaan nung dating may-ari yung car.

Depende din kung kanino mas palagay yung emotion mo ...

    * * * * *

I would rather have a very well-maintaned Nissan Sentra than a Civic or a Corolla in very bad condition though ... (Forget about what I just said. I know Civic and Corolla lang pinag-uusapan dito...)

Sa presyo ng EF (which is all pawis and 1.2 engine) ay nakapag-change engine nako sa all-power na astina. So mas sulit yung astina kasi sobrang mura all power 1.6 pa...

Tsaka balita ko mahirap daw yung ibang piyesa ng EF, like power steering conversion daw is hassle. Although it can share some suspension parts with the EG and EK.

i own 2 hondas (used to be 3), 1 nissan and 1 toyota (kay misis).

maraming arte sa maintenance ang honda. yung atf fluid lang dapat honda... sirain din yung pang ilalim (yes nasubukan ko na ang magpalit ng orig, replacement, pati yung cruven/zee). the ESi has a plain engine no VTEC, so no engineering magic dun, unlike dun sa mga VTEC nila. bale ba ang binabayan mo lng sa ESi yung porma.

i would go with a corolla if i were you. reasonable ang presyo ng piyesa, kahit anong fluid isalpak mo pwede (nissan din, yung atf ng nissan ko petron atf lang. try mo gawin sa ESi na matic yun sabog transmission nun).

sa dami ng arte sa pagawa ng mga honda ko, i will probably never buy a honda again.

buti pa nissan/mitsu/toyota... simple lang. yung corolla ni misis 10 years na ni isang kalampag wala. yung mga honda ko nakailang palit na ng struts/balljoints/bushings. yung nissan ko naman more than 10 years na ni minsan hindi ko pinagawa yung pang ilalim, OK pa hanggang ngayon.

Corolla GLi. I own one and it's this model that made me a Toyota fan! It's easy to maintain and has never stalled on me.

Honda Civic ESI or a Corolla GLI? Which one is better?
