2000 Isuzu Trooper M/T, local unit. 100,000+ kms, 425k yung asking pero sagad daw niya 410k.

    Eto yung questions ko:
1.) worth it ba siya sa price niya?
2.) ano-ano ang mga dapat tignan sa tsikot?
3.) more or less, mga magkano ang maintenance nito?
    4.) fuel consumption?

A family friend owns a trooper & an escape. Tried driving both.

Since binili niya, walang problema regarding internals. Fresh pa kasi nung binili niya yung unit, sira nga lang yung isang LCD monitor sa headrest but that's nothing.

Trooper M/T 4x4? That's pretty rare locally. 3.0L engine + M/T means excellent performance and much improved FC over the A/T. The Trooper is a nice car. Keep it well maintained and it'll serve you well. Make sure the injectors have been changed, there's nothing wrong with the sensors and everything's clean before you consider buying.

There was a 3.0L 4x4 that came out (telltale signs were the darker tail light lenses and bumper mounted rear light); is this the 3.0 or 3.1L diesel? If it's the 3.0L, medyo problematic yung model na yan if you backread other threads; if it's the 3.1L diesel 4x4, thats good (and that's the only Trooper model i would actually consider).

The 3.0L 4x4 looks like this at the rear:

The 3.1L turbo diesel looks something like this one (At least with the rims but it still has the standard colored tail light):

410K last price? I'd still put my money on a Patrol Safari and Pajero.

Check for black smoke and lack of power. Something may be wrong with the emissions equipment or something may be clogged. Aside from the injectors, check the turbo if it functions well and also look into the sensors. The RPS and RPCV of various Trooper owners in Tsikot have already been replaced as well, although we have not encountered that during our Trooper's eight year stay with us. Check also for hard starting, the battery may need replacing or there may be alternator troubles, something which was quite common with us until we upgraded to a bigger capacity alternator.

Hahaha~ Hindi naman... Sa haba ng stay ng Trooper namin with us, the headaches are actually fairly few. And malakas talaga ang hatak ng Trooper when compared to the likes of the 1KZ Prado, 4M40 Pajero and the ZD30 Patrol. Besides, you'd probably have to almost double the budget to get a similar condition/year model Pajero or Patrol and triple or quadruple for a similar condition/year model Prado. Basta lang naman you maintain it well, and you won't be having problems with it. I've heard someone say before that these 4x4's were CBU Japan (or was it Europe? Napakatagal na kasi), basta hindi daw same source as the 4x2 models. And then I haven't heard much of 2001 and below 4JX1 owners complaining about engine troubles.

if its the 3.0L 4jx1 engine, its basically a hit or missed thing since a lot of people encountered problems with it. that's something to think about since the vehicle no longer has a warranty.

I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. But if you're a Trooper lover, good luck. It's a hit and miss.

thanks sa lahat ng mga nag-posts! nakaka-tempt kasi ang trooper kasi mababa ang resale value niya as compared sa mga SUV na same size niya eh.

what if cr-v 2nd gen vs trooper, ano kayang mas ok? tsaka magkano ba ang selling price ng mga 99-00 pajero fieldmaster ngayon? thanks in advance!

    CR-V 2nd gen vs tropper?

    Wala.

Yung una, sobrang lakas sa gas at pangit ride.
    Yung pangalawa, scary. :rofl01:

    CR-V 1st gen nalang.

Nasa 560-600+ pa yung 1999 FM.
    Mahal, 'no? Hehe.

Stay away from the 2nd gen CRV. It's ugly, guzzles gas, and is cramped inside if you want to fill it to its "ten cheater" capacity. Magkaibang class yan, CUV ang CRV yung Trooper tunay na midsize SUV, with all the equipment, amenities and characteristics expected in one, and marketed and sold worldwide as one. The Trooper may not be very fuel efficient as these vehicles go, but at least it is still more economical than the CRV.

Back then when the Trooper was new, the Pajero was actually looked down on for being a slowpoke and having a cramped interior as compared to the Trooper. And now the Pajero's resale value is sky-high as compared to the Trooper. Not very desirable if you are willing to religiously maintain the car.
