SiRs tend to be regarded way more than what they are capable of. That's the thing with having no competitors to worry about. But if say, you put a Blacktop 20 valve in a Corolla AE101, it will even be quicker than the Honda stock-to-stock.

As for the Evo, Mitsubishi probably thought of designing a supercar around a Lancer in order to keep prices low. The current model (IX) performs just about as well as a BMW M3, but at a much lower acquisition cost.

here's an SiR na pwede sigurong hamabol sa stock EVO, pero check out the mods naman. besides, i've never seen a stock EVO, so talo pa rin yun SIR.

sa SIR...I think its just a hype (to bring the car selling price a bit higher)

pangit na comparo - SIR vs EVO kasi magkaiba ang engine displacement nila diba?

evo already have "4 consecutive wrc" championship in its belt.....di ko lang maalala kelan.

    ok?
Agree! Pero when your driving in the concrete jungle of EDSA... unconsciously nakikipag unahan kana din dahil nadadala kna ng flow sa EDSA.. in this scenario, medyo lamang ang SIR versus EVO... WHy? PRICE TAG...

As regards the times on page one... a completely stock (stock mags, stock tires, stock engine and exhaust) SiR does 0-100 kph in 7.6 seconds, and quarters in 15.6.

A stock EVO (the new one) does 0-100 in 4.6 seconds and quarters around 13.5-14.

The best I've seen a modified stock-body (no lightening) SiR do is around 13.5 seconds. But that's with over 200,000 pesos worth of mods and marginally road-worthy sports tires. An EVO with the same amount invested can go into 12's.

For the record, if you want to compare the SiR to its current closest competitor available in the Philippines: The Lynx RS does 0-100 kph in 8.3 seconds (tested by fordclubph members) and should quarter-mile in 16 - 16.5 seconds. No match for the SiR. In traffic, however, the RS has more torque, which equals more "squeeze" when you need it... right NOW, not after 6000 rpm. Plus the RS has a much better suspension, as stock, better steering feel (but then, it is a newer car) and much less understeer. Still, it's no match in a straight line, or for an SiR-swapped hatchback.

Having driven the two, I still prefer my RS, but then, the feeling you get revving the SiR's little 1.6 to 8000rpm (or more, depending on mods...) is something you can't match with anything selling for the same money.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

with all due respect guys, if you post a question like that you deserve to be made fun of, if only just a little bit

i never see any over-hyping of the corolla, sentra or mazda 3...and i blame it on all those fanboys who loudly and ignorantly proclaim the SIR as the automotive equivalent of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

Yup Tommi is the man. I think he deserves a lot of credit for making evo a very popular car. Watching those past commercials of mitsubishi with his evo in action gives me goosebumps.

correct! these are deadly... for something that poses as a stock and minimal mods, ricer-racer boys should beware of such. otherwise they'll eat dust...

but still, drive safely for all of you out there.

    Happy Motoring.

So SIR na ang pinakamabilis sa mga common cars on the road.

IMHO i think SiR's are overrated. I was an ex-SiR owner myself that jumped on the bandwagon. Now if you transplant an SIR engine into a civic hatchback, thats a different story.
So ano na sasakyan mo? Why did you give up on the SiR?

Those are history evos...which imo are probably better than the new one...lets see if they (EVO) will even place better than a skoda sa 2006...although lower ranked na ito ng EVO...IMO mas exciting pa tingnan ang run ng skoda kaysa EVO

Bilib ako sa lumang EVO but not the new ones....dun pa lang sa 2004 na WRC puro break down ito (not driver issue).

This is an automotive board that is open to all car enthusiasts - from newbies to gurus. I am pretty sure that some of us at one point in time didn't know the difference between an SIR and Evolution.

And if that is your opinion - then no one should be asking anymore questions on this board... we should just be searching / googling all of our queries in other website / boards.

Not really naman, one should not just jutt out such type of questions, at the very least, what the poster should have done, is find a backgrounder on both SIRs and Evo's, and then post a more intelligent question here so that the poster will also get more serious answers.

i have a notion. i guess the thread starter mistook the category of both SiR & EVO. since in the local market, the direct rival of Civic is Lancer. medyo na-confuse lang siguro.

saka it is a smart thing to ask question no matter how 'stupid' it may sound.
