March 30th, 2012 02:02 AM #1I sold my Toyota Fortuner 2007 recently. I'm choosing Toyota Fortuner 2012 as replacement. But saw the Nissan Safari Patrol 2012 and was attracted to the body. As per the amount, of course, Patrol is too high to compare with fortuner. But gusto ko rin malaman kung how much ang bagsak ng resale value ng dalawa? If Patrol is worth the resale price, its value with the specs and features, i would go for the Nissan Patrol. Please help. Newbie here.

Cars are always a losing investment. Get one you like to have, not you like to sell. That said, the residual value of the patrol is a bit low. Not because its a bad vehicle, but because the market perceives the brand as not as strong as toyota or honda.
For me, the solid front axle alone makes it worth my while. The jeep wrangler, land rover defender and land cruiser 70 are about the only other vehicles left with such feature.
Be aware though that the super safari despite all the trimmings, still rides and drives like a truck. You might miss the comfort of the fortuner.
Oh, and the turning radius is quite large. Even a land cruiser 80 with the same suspension layout has a smaller turning radius than the super safari.

With the Fortuner, you are losing about 600,000 over three years with the 4x4. With the Patrol, even if the Patrol keeps 70% of its value over three years, you will still be losing a million bucks in resale value in that time.
That's not including the 60,000 - 150,000 in insurance you'll be paying...
If resale value is important to you, don't buy a brand new vehicle. Buy one at least two or three years used.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

March 30th, 2012 02:35 AM #4i can't find a thread about the Nissan safari 2012. I can't even find anything about it online. There's one link but it's blocked due to malwares daw. I really can't find the pros and cons of it. It's unfair for me to buy it just because of the looks.

The nissan patrol gu has had minimal mechanical changes since its launch in 2001. Mostly cosmetic. So they all pretty much drive the same. Save for the self destructing 2001 models. Hehe

Not the proper mindset,- bibilhin pa lang,- pagbebenta na ang iniisip....

If the TS is looking at Nissan Patrol Super Safari as a replacement to his Toyota Fortuner, let us just say that he is like upgrading his current ride with a Toyota Prado. Then compare the pros and cons of the upgrade from a Fortuner to a Prado then compare the Prado to the Super Safari.

April 3rd, 2012 01:34 AM #10Naku... E ganyan talaga ako. Binebenta ko car ko after 4-5 years of usage kaya importante na rin na iconsider ko ang resale value. Also.... The dilemma is if the money is worth the unit. Babae po ako... D ko alam ang ibang factors to consider. Mahilig lang ako sa malalaking cars.... Which my husband and I enjoy. May Dodge Nitro 08 dn kame which we'll be selling soon too.
