    Good day mga sir,

I just want to get a feedback on this both vehicles. We currently own a Toyota Hiace Commuter 2010 with 260,000KM odo. So far, wala pa naman major issues sa engine nya and still going strong pa. We are planning to get another van on December kaya nag iisip kami kung ano ang kukunin. It will primarily use for commercial (van rental business) kaya eto po ung pinagpipilian namin. As for Hiace,

    Advantages:

+ Tried and tested engine (No major issue for last 5 years of ownership)
+ Parts availability (10 years na sa market)
    + Dual front airbags
    + It's a Toyota
    + Fuel consumption
+ Plastic step board?

    Disadvantages

    - Rear aircon (Hirap palamigan ung likod lalo na pag tanghali)
    - Higher pricing (1.262M Toyota Hiace vs 1.207M Nissan Urvan)
    - Engine (Timing belt)
    - Low engine power (102Hp, 260Nm torque) compare sa Nissan Urvan NV350
    - Engine Air filter (nasa front bumper so medyo delikado idaan sa flooded area)

However, upon reading dito sa forum about Nissan Urvan NV350 eto po ung mga nakuha kong informations:

    Advantages:

+ Rear aircon (Upto the last row na ung vent ng aircon)
    + More powerful engine (129Hp, 356Nm torque)
    + Cheaper price

    Disadvantages

    - 1 Airbag (Driver side only)
    - Nagbabawas ng langis kapag bago? (Not sure about this, nabasa ko lang po sa thread ng Nissan Navara NV300 due to break in pa ang engine? at the same time, both vehicles share the YD engine series) Please confirm if totoo po ito kasi never naman namin na experience ito with our Toyota Hiace)
    - Slight higher fuel consumption (Not sure about this, may naka usap kasi kami and he said na medyo may kalakasan sa fuel ang Nissan Urvan NV350 compare sa Hiace. Pero I'm thinking na due to break-in period pa ang Nissan Urvan kaya malakas?

Thank you tsikot and more power.

If I am going to use it for both business and personal, I will try the NV350 for a change.

But for purely business, I will go with the Commuter. It might only have those power ratings but enough na un to do its purpose. At least its engine is not the likes of Crosswind, Adventure and Urvan na kahit purely pang business, I wouldn't consider driving.

Merong kaming urvan escapade, i can say na medyo ma presyo talaga mga pyesa ng urvan but unlike other vans, bihira lang mag palit ng parts. 7 years na escapade namin at nasa 350k+ KM na nalakbay. at major problem lang is ung temperature nya kaya nag palagay kami ng 3 rows radiator.

I'd go for the Urvan. Despite being new, I'm seeing quite a lot of them already. Besides, ABS CBN bought a whole fleet of them. The extra power would be very welcome, especially if you run steep slopes fully loaded often.

Para sakin i choose hi ace commuter pa rin because subok mo na in long years unlike sa new all features ang nissan nv350 pag bago maglalabasan na ang sakit nyan.. in 1 to 3 yrs ok pa yan kasi bago pa.. di natin alam in na long run at more years pa.

May access ba sa fluids like brake, washer and coolant sa front yung NV350?

my beef with the hiace, is that it's BIG.
hard to maneuver in our tight neighborhood.. too tall or long or wide for some garages (basement hotel parking comes to mind).
and you need to be an acrobat to get up on the front seat.

It depends on the variant of Hiace. GL & SG variants are taller and wider than the Commuter.

How about ung rear aircon ng bagong NV350 kaya? Any feedbacks from owners of new Nissan Urvan? Kamusta po ang overall performance neto? Salamat.

We (actually a relative) have a 12 seater nv350. No oil consumption noticed yet as it has only run <800 Kms. Aside from the advantages you mentioned nv350 also has load sensing valve for the rear brakes, which helps with brake bias when loaded. Disadvantages: nv350 has no ABS. Leaf spring on the soft side so may sag earlier than hiace if loaded up all the time. But after having ridden in an nv350 I wouldn't ride in a hiace commuter or even a super grandia for that matter. Ride quality is night and day.

As for the np300 navara oil consumption my money is on the factory fill oil being too thin. I used to have that problem in my d40 navara before. Turns out to be vaporized oil getting into the turbo plenum. When I changed to a good quality synthetic oil consumption disappeared. It can't be blow by as these are new engines.

The detuned 1KD brings the Hiace up to the NV350's level in terms of power. Though now there's the fuel consumption and significant price hike to think about.

I would probably go with Nissan. I like how their diesel engine performs.

Just curious, what's the output of the 1KD in the Hiace? In the city the 1KD in the old Hilux is thirsty compared to current gen diesels. No local info as Toyota ph website still lists Hiace with the old 2.5L engine.

The 1KD Hiace has long been available in Australia. It makes 100kW*3400rpm and 300Nm*1200rpm according to Australian specs. The lack of 4WD and lower power output should make it more fuel efficient, though by how much remains to be seen.
