Depends on what you are looking for. Elantra is cheaper but it's a compact car. I would probably go for the sportage since it brings more to the table in terms of size and height(flooding).

With a budget of around P1-Million, is the Sportage really worth going over budget? How about the fuel efficiency of the 1.8 vs the 2.0?

I'd take the Sportage, even if it is just 4x2. The added interior space, more aggressive looks, better looking interior (subjective) and higher ride height seals the deal. But of course if you can wait for the ReVGT variant to come, why not?

Guys, let's keep in mind the following parameters:
    P1-Million budget
    1st car
Occasional out of town trips, perhaps 2x to 3x a month
Work in Makati and go home in Eastwood

    the R-eVGT is too much...

    cheers!

By the looks of it your daily commute includes a lot of highway driving and you'd be going out of town often. Since you don't do city that much, then the Theta II engine should give pretty good mileage and lots of power as well (most powerful 2.0L gasoline engine in its class).

    Most powerful on paper.

Pero I believe mas mabilis yung X-Trail 200X dahil sa torque. At kung naka K20 yung gen 3 CR-V malamang yun parin pinaka mabilis.

Ganun? But their torque outputs are pretty much the same, with minimal differences in weight and inferior transmissions. So does the Theta II happen to have a very slim powerband?

Minsan mas maganda pa yung 4-speed A/T.

    Parang Ford Fiesta S 6A/T vs Vios 1.5G 1.5 4A/T yan.

Assuming edsa ortigas city driving and same driving habits, gano kalaki difference ng FC ng Elantra 1.8 vs sportage?

Could be worse.

Grabe naman! Gear 2 5000rpm? And what do you mean by "maayos"?

Pero kahit papano 6 speed transmission parin yan and so good highway mileage is expected.

That's why we decided to turbocharge the Theta II of Patti.

Good highway mileage, yeah sort of. Pero halos pareho rin sa 2.4L CR-V 4WD ko eh. Partida 5-speed A/T lang.

*I have nothing against Theta II. It's just that Hyundai can't perfect their gas engines.
