February 21st, 2025 10:34 AM #102Hindi ba yun Avanze/Veloz unit if I remember correctly.
Sa nakikita ko sa daan, Innova at Montero na black taxis are available na sa road.
Toyota Veloz is Joyride Super Taxi service's standard model
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How many Toyota Veloz units were turned into Joyride Super Taxi?
Joyride Philippines initially rolled out 25 Toyota Veloz units in Metro Manila.

I had the same experience. 9 years I had my 2015 Innova G 2KD. Once lang nagamit warranty... isang shock absorber na nag-leak, 7 months in from brand new.
Kung may pinalitan, they're wear and tear items lang and none of the major parts or components. At the time I sold it, the NVH was still 9/10. Walang kalampag (factory suspension still, except for that one shock absorber), walang unusual noises, smooth-running Diesel engine, etc.
The 2nd gen Innova 1GD, I heard, is a little more 'alagain', relatively speaking. It is significantly more modern than the first model and employs more electronics, sensors, and actuators that have the potential to fail. But it's still the IMV platform of old so it should have on-par reliability as the previous one.Last edited by oj88; February 21st, 2025 at 10:55 AM.

February 21st, 2025 11:30 AM #104Hinahanap talaga tong Gen 1, even my bro in-law na into car industry, eto hanap nya na unit.
May kakilala din akong lady driver with 2014 unit.

I've had multiple monocoque/unibody vehicles and di talaga akma sa local environment natin where longevity and reliability is a major requirement. Yan ang appeal ng Innova and other similar vehicles, IMO. Yan din ang hanap ko kaya 1st and then 2nd gen Innova binili ko.

February 23rd, 2025 06:30 AM #106I recommend a Toyota Innova or a Mitsubishi Xpander, they offer a lot of space and folding seats.
In terms of reliability and maintenance, Toyota remains a safe bet with controlled costs.
If you want an SUV, the Hyundai Santa Fe or the Honda CR-V hybrid may be interesting.
Also look at consumption if you want to limit spending in the long term.
Do you have a specific budget in mind?

The term was supposedly coined by Jeep (The History of the Sport Utility Vehicle: Why Is It Called an SUV?) in the 70's and 80's, and have been widely used since to describe any vehicle that is.. (from Merriam-Webster):
...a rugged automotive vehicle similar to a station wagon but built on a light-truck chassis.

February 23rd, 2025 06:17 PM #109If we apply the term retroactively IMO the first SUV would be the Chevrolet Master or Suburban. Started off 1933/35 and it was a station wagon body on a 1/2 ton truck frame.
If we add off-road capability to the requirements, IMO still the Suburban which gained 4x4 in 1955. Next would be the J50 Land Cruiser, first of the "station wagon" line that came out in 1967.
