    Hi guys,

I'd like to as for your help again for deciding which car should
I buy as a coding car and also for long distance driving. I'm
currently driving a City 2017 and my parents own an MUX and Fortuner.
    Budget is up to 700k.
My requirement would be the following:
    1. Maintenance cost
    2. Parts availability
    3. Good Handling (though something as good as the city is fine)
    4. No Korean brands (had a bad experience)

And here are my top picks:

    Here are my top picks
    1. Civic FB - I'm one of the few that really like the looks. is the handling and comfort better than my city?
    2. Altis 2.0 - They say that the altis 2.0 is quite fast and handles well?
    3. Mazda 3 2.0 - They say it handles well but the maintenance and parts is not cheap. If the civic's handling is close enough then civic is better for me.
    4. Forester XT - a coworker owns one and its quite fast but i dont know about its reliability.

Which generation of the Forester XT? I have the SJ platform (2013-2018) and it proved to be a very good all-around family vehicle not to mention sporty enough for my aggressive style of driving.

It is the best one for long drives. It can seat 5 people comfortably plus you still have a big trunk for cargo and stuff. It is also the quickest and fastest among the list. The Mazda 3 will handle better but the Forester XT offers more grip not to mention that it offers a high ground clearance like a PPV (Fortuner or Monty or Everest). The Forester XT drives like a tall sedan with the grip of an AWD vehicle. If you want a sedan form of the Forester XT, look for a WRX.

Hi sir, how about the maintenance of the FXT? i already have prospects that I would check after the ECQ. Its a 2015 model FXT. I just want to know how much would it take for the maintenance maybe compared to an Accord?. As people here say, I'm changing my preferences to a midsize sedan or CUV.

I just follow the maintenance instructions listed on the manual. Change oil and fluids regularly. Only difference with a FWD car is that AWD cars need gear oil change the same as you change the tranny fluid.

For a normal change oil, it requires 5.5L of FS 5w30 API SN oil plus the required oil filter. CVT fluid change is every 40k km actual mileage.

    altis. even the 1.6.
but see if you fit fine in it, first.
the longer the trip, the tighter the driver space becomes.

Since you said this is a coding car, have you perhaps considered splurging on a midsize? Camry or Accord perhaps?

A compact like a Civic or Altis will not offer a considerable increase in interior and luggage space over a subcompact City. In fact, the Mazda3’s interior space is no bigger than the City.

A compact crossover like a Forester or CRV will a good option for a coding car. If you long for comfort, then opt for a midsize car like an Accord or Camry. Both a compact crossover or midsize car will be just around the same in fuel consumption anyway.

If you have a City already, definitely FXT.

Super good value - it's almost as cheap as a same age Mazda 3 but has much more space, much more power, much more functionality, and then there's that image factor that SUV > sedan.

Yun lang concern ko if ever mag Forester XT is the cost of repairs for the car. Baka kasi mas mahal pa yung repairs than the car itself.

You need to drive the car so you have to care of it. Sayang naman kotse kung sira yung headlights. Unless you skimp so much that you don’t mind driving without headlights.

The WRX STi is not for the usual driver as it costs more to maintain. Yung pink STi oil filter costs almost 3x sa oil filter ng FXT. Even more so with brake pads, what more if it is the engine that’s broken?
