The Honda seats 7 and has more bells and whistles than the lowest variant of the midsized SUV's. The BR-V TOTL is also a CVT but has a considerably smaller engine (1.5-liter four-cylinder*i-VTEC). Curb weight is probably a lot less, though.

Everyone here pretty much is aware of the mid-sized SUV's but is the extra ₱₱₱ worth it considering the TOTL Honda BR-V is priced at 1.119M?

i still depends on the buyer's preferences, i.e., what does he want the car to do for him?
to choose a car based solely on its price, can result in an unhappy car owner, in the long run.

Thanks sir.

Sobrang daming factors to consider and all depends on what u want. Some scenarios na BRV is suited for u:
-ikaw Lang usually in the car
-you have a wife and 1-2kids Lang
    - hindi ka sanay sa long or wide SUV
    - u want to save 200k
    - you don't want too high of a vehicle to ingress and egress
    - u want the bells and whistles of the TOTL vs a bare SUV

When I had 2 small kids then, I got the crdi Tucson since size was appropriate for us and I wanted better handling and a quick car. Now I have 4 kids so I chose the new monty.

I don't think the BR-V would compete against the Fortuner, Montero and etc. It belongs to a different market compared to those SUV's. I think the BR-V's main competitor would be the Ecosport, Juke, ASX and its distant cousin, the Mobilio and to some extent, it would also compete with the HRV.

I don't think they created this to "compete" head-to-head with any particular segment. There are so many choices at this price point (from top of the line subcompacts, to entry-level compacts, to entry level crossovers, to top of the line Avanzas, Mobilios, Ertigas, to entry level innovas etc.). I feel it's an "aspirational, do-all vehicle" for single-car startup families who want the most car for their money, but put a premium on style and comfort. Wouldn't buy one though coz this will probably test your patience when it comes to power on tap.

Yeah, it's really what you want, take for example us, me and my wife agree to buy a CRV, what I want is a 2nd hand 3 year old model to save 500k, what she wants is brand new despite the price. So, get what you want, what you really, really want, hehehe...

Try sitting in one and see the difference in space. It's night and day, legroom, elbowroom. Just cos they say its a 7-seater, doesn't mean it's the same occupiable space as the bigger 7-seaters. Very difficult to fit 3 grown persons in the second row comfortably if it's only a bit bigger than Mobilio. Innova than BR-V in that price range. Don't get caught up by the SUV labels.

the only reason why I get the honda brv is IF i'm not afraid of old age diesel. sa sobra dumi diesel dito sa'tin, kahit anong gara car mo, talagang sablay performance. but that's me if I dont considering idling sa traffic, parang metro pa din sa taxi ang ubos nyan brv

Hi, would also like to seek advice regarding the same choices, below are my thoughts:

Situation: Current car, City, has 3 months baby that is why we are considering getting a new ride, it seems the city has not much room. Planning to keep the car for 8-10 yrs.

BRV - considering the S variant
pros: easier to drive, stability control is standard, high chance that it is reliable (currently have a 2010 city and no issues)
cons: gas is more expensive, has less space
other: Savings in SRP can be used for fuel but I think space will be compromised as we have a 3 months old baby and when traveling car will be occupied by me, wife, yaya, baby in car seat, mother in law, stroller and diaper bag.

Innova - considering the E variant or should I go G (PPV price point)
pros: diesel, space, based on what I read more comfortable than PPVs, easier to drive compared to PPVs? Toyota reliability? Toyota has cheapest maintenance cost among diesels?
cons: maintenance cost of diesel engine (but savings in fuel can help), wifey is not sold on the looks, less features, no stability control (do we really need this for tall cars?)
other: Is the issue regarding jerking already fixed on newer batches? Will I have a big adjustment coming from sedan?

Fortuner - considering the G variant
pros: diesel; for me has the best looks, wifey also likes the looks, Toyota reliability? Toyota has cheapest maintenance cost among diesels?
cons: matagtag (is this really night and day compared to city? or is it overrated?), maintenance cost of diesel engine (but savings in fuel can help), less features, no stability control (do we really need this for tall cars?), tires are more enpensive
other: Is the issue regarding jerking already fixed on newer batches? Will I have a big adjustment coming from sedan?

Montero - considering the GLS variant
pros: best speced engine, more features than Innova and Fortuner, from what I read it is the most comfortable PPV, easiest to drive among PPVs?
cons: maintenance maybe is more expensive than toyota, rear and rear quater is not that appealing, no stability control (do we really need this for tall cars?), tires are more enpensive, reliability?
other: is it reliable? family had the previous montero it seems that maintenance is expensive and after 5 yrs they sold it because of emerging issues, they had the GLS SE variant. Will I have a big adjustment coming from sedan?

Everest - considering the Trend variant
pros: also has the most comfortable ride, best speced among the choices, has almost complete safety features, we like the looks
cons: maintenance maybe is more expensive than toyota, tires are more expensive, reliability
others: still not sold of having a Ford for long term ownership, my brother already have the same variant. Will I have a big adjustment coming from sedan?

Should I also consider CUVs or other PPVs? Max budget is 1.5M.

Thanks in advance for the input.

ako din innova na lang, most people don't realize that the suspension of the innova is CUV - like. it's like buying a honda crv or cx5 na diesel tapos mas mura pa. and syempre toyota low maintenance.

why buy those CUV na existing na biglang bagsak presyo 3 years from now, kakaawa yun mga nagme-meyari ng mga CRV or Forester or CX5, ang bentahan kagad unit nila 500K or lower sa used market. eh etong Innova 3 years from now, aagawan yan sa 700K kasi diesel

I would go for one of the entry level mid size SUV's since I usually go to rural areas like Mangagoy with rough roads and demanding hill climbs refering to my Cuevas-Bislig route. But for city use the BRV's due to it's car like handing and comfort seems appealing.

Honda BR-V vs entry-level mid-sized SUV (Everest/Fortuner/Montero/etc)
