Head-turning good looks ... vs. more understated/conventional/boring looks but 50% more power, 50% more torque, a more innovative engine, full-time four-wheel drive, higher ground clearance, and better able to carry big bulky things?

What if you could afford to have your cake (P1,395,000), or eat it (P1,650,000), but not both?

Put the discount price Mazda is giving into the equation... 1.28m, I think.

You could buy a Picanto (well, almost) with the change.

Certainly, the Forester is the faster, more able, and better car, but the Mazda6 isn't bad for the price.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Mazda 6 myself... i don't like the looks of the Forester so much. For out and out driving fun, i'll take a Miata over a Forester.

Depende sa iyo yan kung ang preference mo ay riding comfort o shelf space/soft road-ability. You know which is which.

Forester since the only 6 worth getting is the Mazdaspeed or the V6 version. You did say have your cake and eat it too right?

it's almost a case of apples and oranges here not just because of the hp ratings. The Mazda 6 is a midsize sedan while the Forester is classified as an SUV. But then you can always change the criteria to make the comparison valid.....

A more equivalent comparo would be the Legacy instead of the Forester.

Hmmm. CX7 GT. Forester still has the better performance. But styling and roominess (by 10 cubic ft) goes to the CX7:

Against the 2.3L Mazda 6, this is more appropriate:
    Legacy Limited (non-turbo):

Mazda6 discounted from P1,395,000 to P1,285,000? I wonder what the story is behind that. Desperation? Panic? Or typical end-of-life pricing strategy?

The people who just bought at P1,395,000 must be pissed.

From the descriptions on the web about all-new 2008 Mazda6 replacement, it sounds like it will be bigger and more powerful. More like Camry/Accord. Screw global warming. If so, I guess the 2007 model year is the last chance to get it before it becomes more luxury/power than sport.

Can anyone who has driven both Mazda6 2.3L and Forester 2.5XT on twisty mountain roads comment on how their handling compares? Which gives bigger smile?
