the letter "U" in SUV stands for "UTILITY".

    1. Not much idea on this.
    2. 4x4MAG already did a test on this. Don't know who won. The Nissan was pretty far back in the pack.
    3. Comfort is relative
    4. X-trail has a very versatile dash and cargo area (with multiple cubby holes and drink coolers); CR-V has picnic table, clothesline, lift up tailgate glass; Forester also has lots of convenient storage spaces easily reachable from driver's seat.

i think i have the 4x4 mag issue on this....hanapin ko...

    crv gen2, xtrail 2.0 both a/t and previous gen forester 2.0 m/t w/hill hold i think.

    as i recall, (#1,#2,#3)

on the sand beach test: xtrail, forester, crv
on pulling a stranded wrangler on beach: xtrail, forester, crv
    versitility: xtrail, forester, crv

on the road: forester, tie sa crv and xtrail
light offroad: a nitch:xtrail to forester, crv.

    pulling: 4wd-lock xtrail, forester, cr-v.

locally, XTRAIL AKO! 2.5L ung washable cargo is a plus, flat cargo can easily accomodate bed.. hyper-roof rail is a good aid! plus ung plastic fenders, drink&choc bar cooler, auto aircon, glove box infron of the driver w/ outlet(good storage of charging cellhone/electronics.) mp3 audio, a fat torque w/180ps! 2wd-4wd auto-4wd lock mode!

but the center cluster needs getting used to, but easy to read! white guages pa! sana 5-speed auto w/manual mode para mas ma-harness ang power ng engine..pwede bang i-request sa nissan un?

now if i could just convince my wife, na ung sakaling makaipon, xtrail 250x na kunin ko kaysa sa 2.4L CR-V....

    since d2 sya gagamitin...
    tnx...

kc if i were to choose...
    i like the CR-V
    but...

Of course the owners will nominate their own rides. hehehe.

    Driven a CR-V, rode on an X-trail.

CR-V should make a good everyday car (to the point of feeling boring already). If you want to pump a little excitement in your everyday drive, the X-trail 250X is your ticket.

    But that's just me.

I used to own a gen2 crv, grabe laklak sa gas. averaged around 4.5-5km city driving. medyo matagtag ng konti and terrible road noise.
Ive driven an xtrail ng bro ko, tahimik, responsive, wala pang record sa fuel consumption kasi kabibili lang kanina hehe. my only gripe is yung center instrument panel. awkward tingnan, otherwise wala nakong mapintas pa

Actually most of these vehicles are horrible in terms of consumption. A friend with a new CR-V complained of 5 km/l on a long trip. A relative complained their CR-V 2.4 sucked as much gas as their Explorer (and that's the 4x4 Eddie Bauer version, to boot).

The guys in the Ford club also complain endlessly about Escape fuel consumption... from 4.5 -7 in traffic. There are claims the X-Trail is more fuel efficient, but I'll only believe it if I see it... it's rated at the same efficiency as the other two by C!... as is the Forester.

If you want the height, I guess, you have to pay the price...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Fuel consumption figures for the X-trail vary, I'll get around 7-7.5km/li pure city driving, moderate traffic, it will drop to 6.5-7km/li on heavy traffic. around 8-8.5km/li if traffic is light. 10-12km/li on the highway.

Fellow clubmate claims to get around 8-8.5km/li mixed city/highway, QC - Laguna route. Another claimes to get around 5km/li on the city, GH-MLA route .

Oo nga, Club X ka nga pala (is that right? Or XXX Club? ).

8+ for QC-Laguna sounds just right. I average 10 km/l there in the Lynx... 9 flat if the traffic is bad. I get 8 below if I'm driving solo, though... my wife is a real gas saver, I guess.

    You're on a 2.0 or 2.5?

tama Club X, Off topic na ang XXX club baka ma ban

    its a 2.0li 4 x 2. A Clubmate with the QC-Laguna route drives a 2.5li 4x4 variant.

Just wanted to share my experience with X-trail for almost 3 years na rin. My gas consumption used to be no more than 6 km/li city driving. Then they replaced my front wheel bearings (for free because of warranty) and my efficiency improved to 7-8 km/li.

ayaw ko lang mag-post, kasi obvious naman na maging bias eh.

eto opinion ko...if you're looking for the "U" in SUV, then it seems like the obvious choice would be the x-trail, although the forester is no chopped liver. if you're looking for the "S" in SUV, however, test drive the forester XT, and i dare you to leave the car dealer without one.

i had a weird feeling i was setting myself up for that one.

seriously though, one of the category was air conditioning...as much as i love my car, the A/C, i believe, is one of its weakness...medyo mahina.

    I used to have a gen 2 CRV 2.0 2002 a/t (4x2), and recently just bought a 4x4 2.0 a/t Nissan X-trail.

The Honda Crv engine is reliable, but thirsty. I think I was doing 5.5 to 6.5 km/l city driving. The ride is not good at all especially if you are riding at the rear seats. The only advantage it has over the Xtrail is the extra number of people it can accomodate. The extra seat in front and the third row can be useful. You will never know when you need them.

The Xtrail has a great ride. . . almost like a midsize sedan, . Much much more comfortable than the CRV. Gas consumption is just the same.( 6 km/l city) A full tank in the xtrail lasts longer because it has a larger tank 60 liters compared to the 50 liter CRV. Overall I believe the Xtrail is a much better SUV than the CRV. I have no experience with the Forester, but heard great things about it.

    Hope this helps.
