Latest driver death rates highlight dangers of muscle cars

The headline on the IIHS article seems to be singling out muscle cars, but what I get here is that small cars are deathtraps. And the safest are luxury SUVs (and sedans).

My Mom refuses to buy me a small car because she said it's dangerous (stats prove it's true nga) I thought of getting a Wigo kasi. I like the thought of driving a small beater car.

Methinks factor yung dami ng mirage sold (mura relatively) and running the streets sa involvement in car crashes . More units on road = more chances of crash and death related crash.

the more pashinks the doctor seas, the greater the chance for mistakes.

but if percentage is taken into account,
medyo mas marami ngang small-car mortalities on a percentage basis.
but what has to be looked into, are the relative aggressiveness of these cars' drivers, i.e., "is it the car, or is it the car's driver's aggressive driving, the determines mortalities?"

It's a rate. The number of deaths is normalized to the number of cars sold (per million).

That's what the IIHS headline is getting at. Muscle cars have higher death rates relative to other cars their size.

yeah deaths per million yan. extrapolated pa yan coz i don't think mirages reached a million. btw mitsus are not popular in us. it's rare to see a mitsu dealership in the us

That's true of many cars on the list. Bihira lang naman ang aabot ng 1 million plus sales within the two or three years covered by the survey, maybe only the F150s and the Corollas. Everything else is extrapolated.
