    Hi Peeps,

Parang mas tipid ang lancer, according to the various posts Ive read sa mga forums. And at the final gear, both cars can reach 100kph * 2.5krpm.
Eto yung sa lancer running at 100kph sustained speed, 20km/l:

kung 120 kms byahe mo araw araw durability ang dapat main concern mo. tingin ko mas matibay lancer . mas macho tingnan lancer and mas matagal maluma design nya. 6 speed vs 5 speed? kung kumakarera ka maganda 6 speed since mas closer yun gear ratios (better acceleration)pero kung predominantly highway byahe mo ok na 5 speed. yun final drive ratio nyan halos parehas lang. mas mabigat 6 speed tranny and mas madami pwede masira since more parts more wear and tear.

Between the two choices, I would choose the elantra. The elantra has a bigger interior and trunk space. Its a lot newer also compared to the lancer. The FC difference between the two cars would probably be really close. I really like the lancer GTA though but the 1.6 lancer looks too plain for me.
If I may suggest, considering you are traveling 121 kms daily, I would highly recommend the accent hatchback diesel. You will probably be saving at least 6000 pesos a month on fuel expense. Thats a lot of money which you could spend on other things or perhaps upgrades on your car. Take note that the accent diesel can make 25-30 kms/liter as claimed by the owners on the accent thread. Plus the fact that diesel fuel is a lot cheaper compared to gasoline. Do the math to see how much you could save monthly.

I'd go with the Elantra between the two. Since you travel predominantly highway, the additional power and gear can actually be used. I don't really mind about the added features. You can install them on your own probably for an even lower price.

+1 on the Accent CRDi though. With the amount of distance you travel, you'd save lots!

I was choosing between Lancer EX and Elantra before, both 1.6. :-)

But aside from it, nothing else. Everything else goes to Lancer.

both are fuel efficient naman. i dont have figures for the elantra so di ko macocompare pero matipid ang lancer ex lalo na pag M/T according to current owners. even yung A/T matipid pagconservative driving (not going past 2k) pagkamoderate traffic nasa 8-10 pagka light nasa 12-14 nakukuha ko. that is if you can control yourself. masarap kasi ihataw kahit 1.6 lang cause of the sporty look of the car. for reliability wala akong experience sa korean brands so sa hapon na ako magtitiwala. yung accent gas nila ang daming owner namomroblema sa engine knock. although different model yun, its still the same brand.

in terms of looks, honestly imo, stock to stock masmaganda elantra. lahat ng kaibigan ko na tinanong ko doon nagandahan pati parents ko. it looks almost naked to me without a blacked out front nose and side skirts. but the thing is, i wasnt planning to keep it stock when i chose this car. so i knew it will look better in the end. maganda kasing base car ang lancer for mods.

kung maglalancer ka, expect to spend more in the long run. not because of fuel/maintenance, but because of mods

I don't know if you'll agree with me but the time na nagiisip ako ng car last year, the elantra did not came to mind (well until now). I ended up with the lancer ex because of the looks fc and it has ample power when needed... It's not a performance car but it has enough.

Sa tingin ko naman both compact cars are good and bang for the buck, baka meron pa kayo pwede i suggest na compact sedan

    121 km! that's, what... at least 10 liters a day! 500 kesos a day! 10,000 kesos a month!
would you consider getting a flat, condo or dorm near the workplace, instead? hindi ka pa pagod..

Opo sir, 121 kms a day po (araw araw po fieldtrip) that's from Pulilan, Bulacan to Mckinley Hills, Taguig.

Hehe. Luma agad after ilang taon.

Ayaw mo mag-second hand SUV nalang?

May sukli pa. Hehe.

Pero kung gugustuhin brand new, Elantra nalang ako. Mas naggwapuhan ako eh. Although you won't get wrong with any of the two.

Sa byahe mo ang tancha ko sa FC mo with the EX is 10-12 km/l papasok, while 11-13 km/l pauwi o baka kaya pa 14km/l.
