Hello po mga tsikoteers!! Im planning to buy a car a few months from now and I'm having a hard time choosing between the said two cars.

    1. Fuel consumption, sino ba mas matipid? 1.3L engine is not an option for me. Although they're both 1.5L e tiyak na hindi parehas kain nila ng gas.
    2. Durability and Build quality issues.
    3. Engine Performance
    4. Resale Value.

Their price difference are irrelevant for me since I think the jazz offers more feature besides the looks. Pero I want to get I pay for. If Vios is flawless then I would probably get the vios instead...there's no point of having a good looking car kung nakasimangot ka naman sa loob. Thank you in advance.

P.S. Is there any chance na lalabas satin ang toyota yaris na hatchback in 2007? kasi kung lalabas satin e bka hintayin ko yaris.

Bet. the two I would get the Jazz 1.5li. You are correct in saying that the Jazz is clearly the most bang for the buck given the numerous features it has over the competition and never mind that it cost a little bit more.

    Vios G 1.5G 5 Speed M/T Php687,000.00
Jazz 1.5 V MT (w/ SRS and ABS) PHP 731,000.00

About the supposed factory defects, no brand is immune from any form of defects. Even the Vios had several defects when it first came out. Now that you know (from reading at Tsikot) the problems, you can watch out for those things before taking delivery of the vehicle.

About the fuel consumption, the Jazz/City CVT has an edge compared to the Vios but I dont know about the MT, which is another story.

About the Yaris, it was supposed to released Nov of this year. I also heard it is more expensive than the Vios line-up. If you look at the May '06 of Car and Driver, the Jazz beats out the Yaris and the rest to claim the first place in the magazine's comparison test.

Japan ba?

1st gen na Vtec ba yun which was release 7-9yrs ago? or is it the newer one, yung Vtec3?

How would you check for the matagtag na dashboard? I know its normal kung yung vehicle is around 4yrs and above pero not on a few months or few years old car. Ano pa po ba ibang mga bagay na dapat kong i-check sa Jazz unit when the day of purchase comes?

The Philippine Jazz is manufacured and imported from Thailand. The City is locally assembled as well as the Civic.

Not sure. The Jazz and City are assembled on different lines, in different factories. There's the odd rattle in the dashboard, but that's not difficult to fix.

    ----

    Between the two:

    1. Fuel consumption:

I haven't heard any serious complaints regarding the Vios. Some fleet owners complained, initially, of consumption, but this is from the first batch, and probably from engines that weren't broken in. Everyone else says consumption is pretty good. With the Jazz, no complaints. The 1.5 is very fuel efficient, even in hard (fast) driving.

    2. Durability and Build quality issues.

No complaints regarding the Vios. With the Jazz, the stiff suspension on older Jazzes led to some "kalampag" issues. And there's that dashboard rattle. Not serious, and owners of newer Jazzes I know have no "kalampag" issues.

    3. Engine Performance

THe 1.5 Vios is quick. Toyota's new 4 cylinder engines are generally stronger than you expect. The 1.5 Jazz is also pretty fast. Great shift action, too.

    4. Resale Value

Both good. Jazz values are generally higher, but that's because they're more expensive.

    ----

    Other stuff:

    Ride:

Both cars have somewhat stiff suspensions, but the Jazz has a crashier ride. It's liveable, though.

    Handling:

The hydraulic steering rack on the Vios is heavier and feels more natural. The Jazz's steering is very light and numb. The Vios, however, has more understeer... the Jazz can turn like a go-kart if you get it right.

    Interior Space/Materials/Ergonomics:

The Jazz beats the Vios in rear seat space, hands down. The Vios's rear seat is claustrophobic compared to the Jazz or even the newer Kia Rio/Hyundai Accent. Front space is similar, but the Vios's roof is too close to your head.

Plastic on the old Jazz was kinda crappy. The new Jazz is a little better, but the current Vios feels like it has better sound suppression. Ergonomics (how easy the controls are to use/reach) are good on both cars.

    Looks:

Both cars look nice. The new Vios bodykit uplifts the kinda old looks. The new Jazz 1.5 bumpers aren't to my tastes, and there's no place for foglights on them... but the new tail-lights are pretty nice.

    ----

Personally, Jazz... but if you fit in the Vios and don't mind the lesser space, it's a decent car.

Tanong ko narin hows hyundai in terms of quality of their product and after sales service, mas ok(after sales service) ba sila kesa sa honda?

P.S. Kung bakit kasi dito pa sa pinas inasembol mga honda?!, sobrang ok dati yung made in japan lahat at deliver nalang dito ng buo na.

RE: The Jazz is assembled in Thailand, while the City is assembled locally. Issues with finishing quality has more to do with corporate practice than where the cars were built.

The Nissan X-Trail and Ford Lynx are/were built here, and the quality of the trim and assembly won awards in both cases... depende talaga sa management, di sa planta, IMHO.

    ----

Meron nang mga local bodykits ang Getz, and it does look pretty good with beefy 15" mags.

Resale value, mas mababa, siyempre, kaysa sa Jazz/Vios, but it's still very good compared to other cars dahil matipid sa fuel siya... and of course, it costs less than the top-of-the-line Jazz/Vios variants. Reliability, wala pa masyadong lumalabas na problems sa CRDi (knock on wood), and the cost of spare parts (aside from engine items) from the casa is quite affordable.

I want to get a white one but the SA is offering me to get a pearl white for a 15k fee w/c I think is a scam/BS. They phase out the super white so that if anyone want a white one, you pay 15k and get the gay pearl white ones...I dont like the red, silver, gray. I would like to get the blue one but one of our neighbor has a blue jazz already, ayokong sabihin gayagaya ako.

It's the same case as the pearl white color of Isuzu.

The silver gray color is nice, but it's starting to get kind of common.

Jazz is available in "Brilliant White". Is this the pearl white type? I dont see them listing a "special" price for it at http://www.hondaphil.com/prices/pricelist.htm, while the Accord, Civic, and Crv all have a special price for their respective pearl white models.

The other colors are nice (black, silver-gray, blue). The "Purplish Blue and "Bluish Silver" I have yet to see them in person but based on the color sample they printed on the brochure, their shade would not look out of place in a lady's make-up kit.

Nakita ko sa website ng Honda Phil yung Brilliant White pero nung tinawagan ko isa sa mga dealership sinabi sakin nung SA na phase out na daw yung color na yun and he is offering me to get a pearl white(which I dont like kasi mukang naninilaw na ngipin) for an additional 15k. I bet kukuha lang sila ng any color na jazz then hihilamusan lang ng pearl white then presto! Sayang yung original factory paint. I haven't seen their new brochure yet, daan nalang siguro ako sa Honda pagtapos ng holiday to check what other color they offer.

Pearl white is the color from the factory and they don't just get any color car and just "hihilamusan lang ng pearl white" since that would cost more to do. It's more expensive because of the process they need to do to paint the car and the paint itself.

You should get a quotation from your dealer and show them the brochure of the color you want and take that and get another quote from a different dealer to get a better deal. In other words car shop before you buy don't just jump on the first thing offered to you.

Just for clarification: Tumawag ako sa ibang branch ng Honda and the SA informed me that the Brilliant white is similar to pearl white and if I wanted the brilliant white, I still have to add P15k. Im not sure if I still would get the white coz sayang yung P15k(mags narin yun) I'd probably get the Silvergray, btw, pansinin ba gasgas at alikabok sa Silvergray/Silverstone?

The 15k represent s the fact that that's how much more the paint itself costs compared to regular paint. For dealership-type washovers, I think it's 25k for regular colors, 40k for those "special colors" like pearl white, Isuzu's "pearl green", etcetera.

RE: Type R: di ba "Championship" White yun?

It hides scratches as well as white, and it doesn't show up minor dirt and smudges as easily as white or black. Kaya popular na rin siya.

IMHO, paying extra for a funky paint that costs more to have fixed if you get a scratch... naaah... tama nga, just get the grey or another color, and spend the extra on mags or sounds.

I already ask this question pero wala ata nakapansin kaya tanong ko ulit.

Toyota Vios 1.5G or Honda Jazz 1.5 Vtec??
