Kindly post comments. My initial take is that subaru's ride is smoother than mazda's. But overall appearance inside and out is definitely mazda's turf.

Performance (handling, acceleration and fuel efficiency): Mazda, likely... more power, less drivetrain weight, better tires.
Interior: Not sure, but I'm betting Mazda...
Stability?Safety: ? The Mazda6 has traction control, ABS and EBD, which would give you good control in slippery conditions. The Subaru would be better on ice, but of course, we don't have ice here. Subaru wins, but it's close.
Looks: It's a tie. I love the looks of the Legacy...
