Of course not. Friend ko yung nasa Lancer, who wants to win as much as I do. Yung sa pangatlong race pa nga, naoverrev ko yung engine kaya nabitin ng konti sa first, pero from second onwards, talo pa rin siya.

the gsr will hold its own against other similar 1.6L sedans.

the difference between 1.6L sedans are minimal when it comes to engine performance (unless you are talking about the SIR). sometimes, it just boils down to the gear ratios. what maybe quick in acceleration may lag a bit in high speed cruising.

I tried it against a friend's GLXi thrice and the GLi won all. Perhaps the GSR will have a slight advantage in weight and balance, so I guess you'll just have to try. There's really nothing to lose unless you have bets.

To make things clear, I was driving the GLi.

Anyway, brochures state that the Corolla has 110 hp and the Lancer around 115. However, these are somewhat insignificant as real performance can only be determined on the road. Besides, there are many ways to come up with horsepower ratings, but the only method that tells the truth is the dyno.

I'm pretty confident that the GLi can match or beat any 1.6 except the high-powered B16, 20-valve or MIVEC.

same launch technique? (i.e. drop clutch from a 4000 rpm or rolling start from 10kph).

a modified GSR will do good, go IHE, lightened flywheel, race clutch, magaan din kasi yan. pero stock a big no for lancer GSR.

Kung mag gauge man kyo ng friend mo, try to do it in a safe place...advice lng

Mag time trial na lang kayo 50 petot lang yata... or 150? Hmmm... At least sigurado hindi kayo sa Macapagal or sa C5, unless you have access to an abandoned airstrip.
