Bnew Innova or '07 Everest?

We just sold our 1998 Advie last week. So we were thinking of getting an upgrade.

So we hope to get some insights from you guys regarding these two wonderful vehicles.

Brandnew 2010 Toyota Innova E D4D – P968,000 + interest for 3years
(wala na bang issues ang d4d pag 2010 model?)

Pre-owned 2007 Ford Everest – more or less P800,000 + interest for 3years (financing)
(face lifted na ata itong model na ito.)
Hindi na kaya ng budget ang brandnew kasi its P1.3M + interest pa ng 3years

Considering the:
*Pros and Cons of owning a brandnew and a pre-owned
*Fuel consumption of both vehicles (both diesel)
*Safety (lamang ata Everest dito kasi malaki)
*Everyday use in the metro (not to mention dumarami ang ASBU sa kalsada)
*Going up north every 3months (vacation). Which is better for long drive?
*Engine reliability and maintenance for the next 5-10-15years.

Your replies will be very much appreciated.

IMHO lang, if you're getting it finance, better get the brand new one.. Hindi ka nakakasiguro kung walang problema yung 07 everest. With a brand new car, you have 3 years of warranty.. whereas sa 2nd hand, baka madami na yang problema ...


Regarding safety, I'm sure wala masyadong difference sa safety ang everest and innova.. Basta wear your seatbelt and drive safely..

by the way saang toyota branch kaya maganda ang mga deals?
kasi yung nandito sa balintawak ay 20% down. tapos ang free lang ay 3yrs LTO reg.
sa sulit kasi i saw others free daw chattel mortgage, 3yrs lto, tpl, tint, floor mats, seat covers, rustproof at 15% lang ang down. (i still have to call toyota to verify kung legit silang working with them.)
any suggestions?

you will be a keeper for 5-10 years? all I can say is keep away with Toyota's D4D.

kung gusto mo talaga ng Innova, get the VVTI. about sa Everest, don't bother on it, after all 3 years old na rin ito.

sa totoo lang, wala sa mga choice mo ang ok hehe, baka may iba ka pang napupusuan diyan let us say Hyundai Tucson Theta II?

no doubt po, kung pareho din lang na idadaan sa financing, sa brand new na po, what we did, went to our bank(s), and inquire bout car loans, got some computations. last was the toyota branch, then compare, pag sa casa kasi mas madaming freebie.
proud owner of a toyota innova for 9 weeks now.
go for the new one.....

Safety... well, the Innova actually has the more modern crash structure and since it's lower to the ground, it's more stable. Not quite sure if the 07 has the new rear anti-roll bar that helps mitigate the danger of a roll-over (you can look underneath to find out...), but the high center of gravity makes it less stable than the Innova. The one thing the Everest has going for it is it's safer in a flood and the underside is a bit more durable over rough roads.

Fuel economy goes to the Innova. There is a worry with the diesel injectors, but this is not as common as some people make it out to be.

Speed is about even. The Everest is more powerful but heavy (which is why the Innova gets better economy), the Innova's D4D isn't that powerful, but it's punchy and the Innova isn't as heavy as, say, a Fortuner. The Innova is definitely easier to drive in the city. It's much like driving a car.

On long drives, the Innova's ride is better, but not by that much. The rear end is kinda stiff over bumps and can cause motion sickness over rough roads... though the Sport Runner variant's tires smooth out the stiffness somewhat. The Everest is truck-ish, with a jouncy ride that alternates between stiff and wallowy. It has better steering than the Innova, but that is probably not a factor in this purchase. Both are acceptable from the front seat, though the Everest has more headroom and a much better interior.

Reliability is an unknown, though there aren't any complaints about the Everest engine and transmission. There are the odd complaints about the ride and underchassis... but there are no common wear items that stand out. The common problems that stand out for the Innova are the injectors and pump (though, again, this is not that common... many people with no issues) and underchassis (again, nothing really specific. There were some recalls, but no current issues). Also, the Innova's interior is prone to wear and tear... cheap fabric and crumbly foam. One plus for the Everest is the waterproof electronics and the durable fuel system. But if you're buying used, you will have to make sure that the fuel system was properly maintained and that the vehicle was not flooded. Even with a waterproof computer box, the Everest's dashboard electronics are still vulnerable to water damage.

And, I say this to everyone, but: Shop around. Don't limit yourself to just two choices. Figure out what you really need and look at everything else available to you on the market. Who knows... you might just get lucky and find that rare 2 year old secondhand car with just 10,000 kms, no flood damage and an owner willing to let go for a low price.
