Hey liteace owners, kindly post here the age of your van, km reading and serious problems you have experienced with it. Baka pwede na rin i-post ang solution.
Thanks in advance.

Oct '96 Litace GXL with 215,000 + kms. on the odometer. Almost all parts ng suspension except shocks napalitan na, so is the evaporator, condenser and compressor ng aircon. Overhauled the carburator twice during that period. Almost everything sa underchassis ay nagalaw na. But fortunately, engine ni hindi pa nabuksan. One problem we encountered is overheating especially when aircon is engaged in a traffic, pero kung off naman hindi nataas ang temp niya. No problems with the engine with regular oil change and tune-up lang. Idles smoothly to this day. Corrosion usually appears in all units sa may front fender near the step boards.
one thing more, i usually get only 7.5 to 8 per liter lang ng petrol, city driving.
I think almost all liteace owners experienced overheating with this baby. Is there a way of solving it? balak ko kasi kumuha ng isng used unit.
my liteace
ngayon, on restoring stage, aquried last year, and still contemplating whether o keep it or sell, kasi kukuha na ako ng spacegear kahit alin dito ang itsura.
planning to convert my liteace to manual, kung di parin nawala overheating nya on highspeed even na manual tranny na siya, palit makina na ako (3C-te or kung kakasya ang 2L-Te or even a 3L-Te!)
invite kita dito
If god permits, I'll be owning one this weekend. A 1992 model, 91km, original paint and very fresh inside-out.
1992 ba yung hindi na flat-nosed (pero same body as the GXL)?
we had a very early unit back in 93. column shifter pa. only problem we had was the shifter, minsan ayaw pumasok sa 1st gear, lalo na pag malamig ang panahon. overheat, muntik na once. other than that, it was a very good van. it was my school service laguna-manila ang byahe ko almost everyday.![]()
yun 94GXL namin dati
-bumigay air-con after 3rd or 4th yr ata.
-yung overheat madalas mangyari yun pag may natirang bubble sa radiator,
-accumulated dirt sa condenser result RUST,
-sneezing/stuck up front disk brake needs overhaul
All in all oks na oks sya considering na abusive yung paggamit panghakot, pandeliver, bigas, mantika, etc, tulogan, pampasyal long distance easy to manuever sa tight places and intersection blind spot...kaso nabenta w/130K km on odo kaka miss yang liteace gxl 5k nayan hehe
Finally, I bought my own liteace yesterday. Batang-bata, 62kms lang tinakbo, very fresh inside and some normal wear and tear outside. Latang-lata pa with its original paint. With a bargain price.
180k+ kms., the only main persistent, annoying problems we've encountered is only the well-known 'A/C & Overheating issues'..... w/c indeed is the commonest of all!
Others, is the normal wear & tear of suspension systems, powertrain & other maintenances as well etc.
Honestly, matibay talaga 'tong van na' to, ikanga nga nila, tried & tested kahit anung abuse usage pa gawin mo, very reliable van despite being gas-guzzler & underpowered. However, we can't really afford to lose this ride though... even it's old enough to own!!!
Lastly, mayaman pati sa piyesa, kahit saang auto supply ka pa pumunta... meron!!!![]()

first vehicle ko yung 91 lite ace namin(local)... ang problema ay nag stall sya pag heavy rains pag nababasa ang hightension wires...Aircon--replaced ang condenser and evaporator (laki ng gastos)...medyo parang matakaw sa gas and overheating pag sobra ang tapak mo sa gas...
Had one before, a gray 92 model.
Highs:
Very spacious and versatile seating
For some reason, always a journey to ride in it, due to a cozy interior with good aircon and the fact that I was a kid back then.
Lows:
Badly needed twice the power (at least Corolla 4A-FE engine). It also guzzled gas because of frequent flooring of pedal.
Too bouncy at the front
Also overheated
yeah, forgot about the power deficit of this thing.
it's fine with two to three people on board, but a fully laden lite-ace will huff and puff and run out of steam. very evident even in slight inclines. which, as squala stated will do null to your fuel economy.![]()
The first thing I noticed with my newly acquired 92' model liteace was its speed. It can't climb any faster than 30kph. No complaints whatsoever sa City driving. Very cool ang aircon, the previous owner installed an auxilliary fan under the engine. No overheating. but my question is, is there a way or any modification to be made to make it climb faster without changing the engine, of course.
you can do the basic IHE mods to it but that won't do any big/noticeable improvements. it really does have a puny little engine.
btw, how steep is the incline? on a mild inclined road going to tagaytay, we were able to do a 60kph. but that of course coming from a long paved road, so we have built some momentum already. it may be a different story if we started from a stop. if it may serve as a consolation, our FX before with a 1.8 engine took a long while to gain a respectable speed on an incline to tagaytay coming from a stop.
Sir bosstl, somebody told me it might be a sliding clutch problem. How can you tell if it is the problem. Is there a way to check without opening the clutch assembly?
i'm not an expert, but from experience, if you are revving up quite high already but the speed isn't getting any faster, and there's a hint of burnt clutch, those may be the early symptoms of sliding clutch.
pero syempre, depende na rin kung gano ka steep yung incline, kasi kung steep talaga sya, di makakaandar ng mabilis yung liteace mo.
try doing this test. on a level road, engage your handbrake, put the gear to third or fourth gear, then gas up and slowly release the clutch pedal. normally the engine would die. if not, it may be time to check your clutch disc if it needs replacing. normally this will do the trick for cars, though i am not sure if this test is also true for vans. well, i guess it is just the same, as long as the handbrake is in good condition.![]()
* chiekot:
Pre, ke anung modifications gawin mo (w/o changing engine), talagang mabigat liteace, low speed engine lang naman kasi eh! Stick w/ the basic like correct tuning, oil change etc. But, remember to replace/change transmission & differential oil too, eto yung mga most negligent part of its maintenances.
tatakot pa ako magpalit to 2kd-ftv(makina ng innova) kasi may choking prob! pero kung may makukuhang 2kd-ftv na 100%working and complete(w/ harness and ECU) at under 60 thousand pesos...
gaan lang ang liteace compared to other vans, mga 1,500kgs lang....parang kotse lang na pinalaki...kaya pag pinalitan mo ng potent engine ang liteace, i think lalaban yan sa highway...
