    Hello all,
Need you comment as to which is the best buy: Subaru Forester 2.0iL, Mazda CX5, or Toyota Fortuner. My original pick was the Fort due to it's tested reliability at pagkamacho nito. The Mazda is also on my list due to it's ***iness & fun to drive yung drawback ay dahil sa bago ang technology (Skyactiv engine & trannie) and don't want to end up regretting after 3 years or so. I happen to visit Subaru dealer here in Pampanga and nagustuhan ko rin ang bagong labas na Forester (unfortunately di kaya ng budget ko yung XT) so yung sana base model which is ok naman. I want to know though kung after ng warranty and I just want to have the Subie maintained by other than yung casa if kakayanin ba sa labas ie: Motech etc.?
My needs pala: Reliability, Safety, Comfort, peace of mind, Good looks is a plus.
Main use: Long drive lang other than that sa garage lang siya.
Number of family: Just me & the wifey.

    Thanks in advance!!!!

Parang sobrang laki ng Fort kung dalawa lang kayo. And it's not comfy when lightly loaded. For your needs IMO you need a car-based SUV.

+1 ako dito. Masyadong malaki ang Fort kung kayong 2 lang.

Pero gusto ko yung CX-5. Meron yatang free PMS ang mazda for the first 3 years of ownership.

Kung gusto mo diesel, Sportage crdi gets my vote.

This might help a bit. Though they're using the 2.5 versions of the CX5 and Forester here the driving dynamics with the 2.0 models are similar. : 2013 Toyota RAV4 XLE AWD vs. 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5i Touring, 2014 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD ? Comparison Test ?*Car and Driver

Mazda has Yojin3: free PMS parts and labor for 3 years or 60000 kms.

Mazda CX-5 for me. yung 2.5L variant kung kaya ng budget, more toys kasi + the comfort of a compact SUV + Yojin3. drawback nga lang is yung reliability ng new tech niya, pero other than that, i think mazda is a pretty good choice. If a proven reliability is one of the factors, go for Fortuner na diesel variant.

Wow, really surprise how bilis ng mga replies. Thank you all mga kabayan. If ever yung Fort piliin ko, maybe I'll wait muna till dumating ung 2014 but hoping 5 speed na sana and no more problem(?) sa D4D na nagbabara daw (other forums) pag walang changes sa style or trannie , I don't know....sa CX5 parang may catch un free labor n maintenance 3 yrs or 60K nila, baka after that babawiin din kc tinanong ko SA after the 3yrs or 60K un maintenance would range to 8K+(???) . So that leaves me with the Subie or Fort although mas leaning ako dun sa Subie Forester yung question ko lang talaga sa Subie ay yung cost to maintain at kung kaya i maintain sa labas after the warranty period dahil nga kasi baka ni hindi umabot sa 60K tapos na ung warranty ko mostly sa weekender and long drive lang gagamitin. Yung Subie kc nag-research na ako everywhere konti at very minor lang ung mga concern what is not discuss ay yung cost to own. Again thank you in advance sa mga replies. Thumbs up Tsikoketers!!!

8k is normal for some models even on subcompacts with all the options they add on to the basic requirements. Heck they wanted to charge me that amount for my Vios' 10k PMS. After removing all the options (flushing, fuel injector cleaner, detailing, etc) total bill was less than half the original quote. Besides if you're out of warranty you can have your PMS performed outside of the casa already.

BTW kinda OT but my officemate's Montero recently had its 40k PMS. Price? 21k Diesels generally change more oil more frequently compared to their gas counterparts

*Kevz321, i posted something in the subaru forum about maintenance, mine is an impreza 2.0. Same engine with the forester. Most likely, same cost of pms. Check it out.

Hi guys, interesting tread we you are having here. Actually like Kevz, I am choosing between the 3 models... What specific model of Subbie and Mazda are you looking at kezs? Since constraint ako sa budget, I am choosing between Fort, Subie 2.0iL and mazda 2.0 a/t.

Having Tried both cars for test drive, since very competitive yun dalawa... Mukhang mas maraming internal features ang Mazda like push start engine etc etc... but mukhang mas maganda yun subaru with the AWD at the 2.0iL...

Ill monitor this tread na rin to help me decide.... Thanks kevz for starting the tread...

*Alvin, na-test drive ko na rin yung Fort, speaking of reliability and pagka-brusko nito sa Fort ako, however pagdating sa comfort ng ride although sabi nila binago na yung suspension, I actually sat sa likod para ma-feel pero matagtag pa rin. Yun naman Mazda CX5 na-test drive ko na rin, first impression ko is "WOW" ***y n fun to drive sya, sa speed naman ok na rin sa akin dahil di naman mabigat paa ko sa pedal, yun sa interior almost European na ang dating & marami syang features na wala sa iba for almost the same price. Main concern ko sa Mazda is reliability dahil sa new technology (Skyactiv) it's a big investment so I want to make sure. I will test drive the Subie Forester this week and let you know, ang nagustuhan ko sa Subie ay yung reliability rin and many safety features nito 6 or 7 airbags yata (2 lang un Fort, 6 yung CX5) plus AWD standard. Concern ko sa Subie is the after sales maintenance nito & if kaya ng tagalabas i-maintain after 4 years, sabi ng SA di naman mahirap yung mga parts pero I forgot to ask yung presyo in comparison sa ibang brand. Pero mahal yata...hehe.I have received na rin yung pre-approved check ko sa bank, so all I have to do is hand it over whichever mapili ko sa tatlo, hopefully makatulong yon sa negotiation otherwise (panakot) biglang tayo if pipigilan at papayag sa deal...haha.

*Istan....with your experience as a Subie owner, satisfied ka ba or would settle for other brand....reliability and maintenance wise? Thanks sa tread mo sa pms cost, nabasa ko na kaya ko tinatanong ito.

Satisfied naman. Use until die tong subbie ko. Hahaha!
Cx5 is kinda smallish. Forester is bigger. Kung ako pipili, forester. Fortuner kasi, common, and bare. Although, u can't beat diesel FC and power. Talo ka lng sa oil changes and maintainance. Every 5k change oil kasi diesel, so parang quits lng.

*Istan....thanks:jump:.....sabi nga nila tipid ka daw sa diesel pero talo ka rin maintenance so pareho lang magiging expense sa petrol variant.

To add, maaliwalas sa loob due to big windows ang forester. Test drove both 2.0 and 2.0 turbo versions, drive is better than cx5.

flyaudio would be the best for the forester, plug and play lang no splicing needed plus it looks oem.
