TD42 vs 4M40

Which is the better engine TD42 or 4M40? horsepower, displacement, torque, better mileage, et al

TD42->safari engine in-line 6, 4.2L non-turbo, 5-8kms/L sa local safari na m/t, needs 10 liters of oil, di ko sure kung belt or chain to..pero malamang timing chain to... safaris known to run 160kph on the highway, full load, w/ a/c and dual coolers. may surplus td42-turbo!

4m40->pajero/delica-spacegear 4wd engine, inline-4 2.8L intercooler turbo, timing chain ang gamit, uses 7-8 liters of oil. pajeros and delica-spacegears 4wd known to run 110-130kph normally, puno w/ a/c... pero consumes 5-9 or 10 km/L di nalalayo sa safari na bigger ang makina.

TD series na engine are gear driven timing (not belt, not chain)... bullet proof!!! same sa TD27 ng frontier

mas similar sa power yung TD27 sa 4M40 (lalo na kung turbo version na TD27).

the TD42 is way above in power than 4M40

The 4M40 has more HP but the TD42 overhauls all that with it's torque and very broad powerband.

halos truck-engine na nakalagay sa safari.... ang mitsubishi, wala atang SUV na may ganyang kalaki na makina nanilagay sa SUV nila...4d56-t at 4m40 4m41 lang...

I think 4m40 uses only 6 liters of oil. i could be wrong though

TD42 makes 115 bhp
TD27 makes around 70+bhp
4m40 makes 125bhp

The TD42 does produce good torque numbers.

Keep in mind that the TD42 has two oil filters, and uses around 10liters of oil so your costs will be a bit higher during oil changes.

Btw, the 4m40 is also chain driven.

The GU Patrols initially came in with TB45 4.5 liter gas engines.

The current Super Safari uses the TB48 4.8 engine.
