Its not even a fair comparison since you are comparing a compact to a sub-compact, go for the Altis the only advantage of the Vios is its fuel consumption....

if they're both of the same condition, take the altis, as this would comply with all the criteria you listed down.

VIOS for me. Newer (albeit only by a year), AT (though toyota's AT isn't something to rave about), terrific fuel consumption (you can probably to 20-25km/L on an econo drive with MT, not sure with AT, probably add a liter per 100kms).

Altis is a bit bigger though but just a bit. I mean, it's not Camry in terms of space. Consumes a lot more fuel (around 7-9km/L).

If you're after space, get a 2003+ Starex. Powerful, really big space and good fuel consumption.
