I'm caught between going back to an ESi or finally joining my family's Sentra clan by getting my next favorite car on paper - the B14 Super Touring (I'll miss out the MS 323 Familia on this).

    * * * * *

    ESI:
No plans to go D15B again
    No more VTEC
    Rust/aircon/cooling system issues
So what' with the double wishbone?
I know its hidden quirks, having owned one
Sluggish low end torque, no I can't imagine it without VTEC

    Super Touring:
    I can't determine a real one
(the one I saw didn't have body skirts but has a Touring emblem)
    GTS set-up?
    Boring dashboard
Looks goos on 17s even without the GTS kit
No need to change timing belt
    Does it have VVT?
No sir, no plans for an SR20DE swap!

    Any opinions?

Which is a better buy between the ESi and Super Touring at 150k budget?

Please don't elaborate much on the ESi's specs (I used to have one).

However, I need a comparo against the Super Touring.

Is the GA16DNE a gaz guzzler?

    Is it still worth buying?

    Thanks.

mas younger ang Super Touring IMHO. In terms of FC almost the same lang din.

Ok mileage ko sa D15B dati eh, pero ewan ko lang no idea if matipid din ang PH16.

As for GA16DNE, ineexpect ko mas matakaw ng konti since mas mabigat yung B14 eh.

reliability and acquisition costs mas maganda ang b14

looks and performance, medyo mas lamang ang EG... although there are some people who do JDM setups on their sentras and they look quite good... check out this guy:

FC pareho lang yan. cost of parts pareho rin lang (medyo mahal ang nissan, pero pag honda minamahalan din ng auto supply eh kala ata lahat ng naka honda rich).

if it were me buying, i would go for the b14... DOHC, no paint or rust issues, hindi kalampagin, reasonably soft riding and spacious. just get a unit with good paint in the color you like and then begin your setup from there.

sa EG dami pa ipapa ayos... palatero pa bubong, isipin pa kung euro or jdm, etc etc.

Thanks for the responses mga sir.

Just an update, I have opted to keep my current ride (Astina) and cancel the search for these cars.

I've been informed by a shop owner that a new batch of Z-series (Mazda 3) engines came in and he's offering introductory prices for the first few customers including me.

The engine is supposedly Honda's D15B counterpart.

Although I have realized I never want to go back to the ESi again.
