From what I have read here, the gas Fort does around 5-6km/L. Innova, only around +1km/L. Not very significant difference especially considering the difference of 700cc in displacement.

Compared to their diesel counterparts, they're quite cheap in the used car market. Good buy if you don't mind the fuel cost.

Why not consider a gas-fed CUV like a CRV or Forester? Assuming you just need to ferry 5 people, CUVs are better in terms of refinement and handling compared to an Innova or Fortuner. If you need a 5+2 vehicle, the 2nd gen Sorento (2010-2014) is a good one. These vehicles have the same fuel consumption as a gas-fed Innova and Fortuner.

^Biggest advantage of Fortuner or Innova would be parts availability. The one thing I hate about my Santa Fe is the scarcity of model specific trim parts.

CRV is a good choice though. I've seen aftermarket 3rd rows for models that don't have them, and they don't cost much.

*TS: How much is the budget, by the way?

7-8 is already 1.6A/T territory. I know that because a family friend who drives a 2014 Altis gets as much.

If you need the 3rd row often, do consider that the Innova and Fortuner do not have much cargo space left with the 3rd row up. You may have to get yourself a van. Starex GRX or 2nd gen Carnival will fit your budget.

I mean, I read that the gas Fort gets 5-6 thereabouts city driving. The 1.6 Altis CVT gets 7-8. So the gas Innova would be somewhere in between. Though bear in mind that consumption can vary depending on route and traffic conditions.

Check out personally if the Fortuner 3rd row is good enough for you. You may find it a bit cramped.

Also remember that the 1st gen Fort is known for poor ride quality. You may have to spend on suspension upgrades if you get one.

For some vehicles mas okay mag gas while others mas okay ang diesel. I suggest that you go for the diesels nalang cause that's where the tech is at.

To answer your question in nova is 2.0 while fortune is 2.7. Malakas daw sa gas based on what I heard, plus they're not the best gas engines either.

before i think of the fuel expense, i first think of the size.
we have a tight neighborhood, and bigger vehicles, more comfortable as they are, are not as easy to bring home. and if one's garage is also small...
and if the passengers are vertically challenged and/or senior citizens with acheing knees, they will bless your name 'cause you chose innova over fort.
7 seats? the last 2 better be kids who think it fun to squeeze in and out of that third row. bigger adults will not want to sit at the 3rd row. hirap nang pumasok at lumabas, medyo masikip pa kapag matagal nang naka-upo. if you have seven adult-size adults, better to go starex or breadloaf van (hi ace, urvan).

i would recommend diesel. the fuel expenses are cheaper than gas.
our 2005 MT diesel innova does 9-10 km/li in our metro manila driving routes + some highway, and is very cheap to maintain. after over 100K km, we have done absolutely nothing to the engine, which still runs fine. all we do, is the 5K km oil and filter change.
450K budget should already get you a 1st edition innova diesel.

Hi sir, these links might help: toyota fortuner - toyota innova

From experience, i'd vote for innova. We had our innova for 3 years now and I can say that hindi naman sya matakaw sa crudo. I think it depends on your driving habits din talaga. I do suggest grabbing a diesel variant mas tipid sya.
