Flight school takes about 2 years, and even after you graduate you usually won't have enough flying hours to actually pilot a commercial plane yet. Usual start is second officer. If tama pagkakaalala ko dun sa kwento ng friend kong pilot, after flight school you have about 200 hours of flying time but need about 1000 hours to be considered as a commercial pilot.

Parang med din yan, mahal ang gastos (2M ish ata flight school ngayon) and hindi naman kaagad ang balik (but of course later on it pays off). Kaya nakakacurious na 24 years old eh dalawang kotse na kagad ang kayang bilhin. Must be some sort of flying protege. [emoji106]

I've always been frugal ever since my grade school days I'm in the financial services industry and sales ( thus the client meetings )

I've also been investing in the stock market ever since I got my first paycheck and other investment instruments ( forex, commercial papers etc.. )

Maiba ako, curious lang ha, what do you do for a living? Very few local corporate jobs would allow you the finances to buy a 2 million peso car in less than 5 years of working. Even with startup businesses, it's very rare to achieve that success in that little time. Not even the stock market can multiply returns that large, unless you started with huge capital already.

Hats off to you guys if indeed your careers have flourished so early on from zero.

I'm also at the same age but i can only afford a subcompact sedan. Without the benefit of having a company car plan, i don't have a chance to acquire a million-peso-worth car as of this moment.

I have high regards to those young people who can acquire a car as fruit of their own labor.

    BTT:
I'm a practical person hence I will choose the Altis over the Lancer EX anytime. I just can't live with the Lancer's tiny trunk.

IIRC you mentioned in another thread that you're with a distributor of MFs. PEMI?

Well sabi mo nga bro, you've been frugal all your life. Following that pattern I'd have expected you to stick with either the GT-A or Altis (I still vote for the GT-A bec. it's such a bargain). But I'd understand if you're at that point where you'd throw caution to the wind and go all-out with your car purchase. Good luck!

I can't even afford to pay for gas when I was 24. My salary was good for parking and personal expenses only

I have 2 md cousins from the same parents, both in their 30s. Car and condo still paid for by the parents. I guess money would come in when they hit 40s?

My doctor aunt bought her first car when she was in her mid 30s. Then a house before she turned 40. Now in her early 40s they live a comfy upper middle-class life (kids in good schools, travels several times a year, etc). So yeah the money kicks in late, but it kicks in hard. Parang VTEC lang. In your first posts you weren't even considering the Mz3 2.0 since sabi mo lagpas sa budget. Which is why it seems to me that the 86 is such an impulse purchase since it's a very huge jump from your original budget.

The Altis is ultimately more practical but of course it won't be as fun to own as the 86.

yess.. i will not pretend.. it's great to be an MD.. in more non-financial ways than non-MDs can imagine.
but our earnings pale in comparison to the successful businessman.

I wasn't ready talaga to go all out on my 1st car purchase pero it struck me na if ever this would be my 1st car and I plan to keep it forever naman like a souvenir to show the grandkids ( I plan to maintain it very properly ) and we only get to live once If given the chance I'd like to live as this was my reward for being frugal all these years. But hey! An additional 800k for a car is indeed a big thing to think about
