Reliability is dependent on how the previous owner maintained the vehicle.
Given the choices, I'd go with the FD Civic. The 2009 Altis 1.6G (a/t) is very comfortable and reliable however the power may be lacking for the long drive, especially when you load up. The City 1.3 will not be as comfortable and when you load up the car, fuel consumption on the highway won't be as good as the engine will work harder.
What is your budget range?
From my experience, these were the common issues on the Civic FD (most happened between 40,000kms to 65,000kms):
- Power steering hose leaks
- Wheel bearing failure
- drive belt bearing failure
In fairness, replacement parts (Except for the PS hose which was OEM) were affordable and worked well.
If that's the case, then hindi rin pala lahat ng nakaka-afford sa kanila ay hindi frugal mag-isip...
